I'm pretty sure Georgetown's a longshot for me, but I'd really love to go there because I want to study International Relations. What better place to be than DC, right?

Thanks for the help! =)

I'm afraid you are a bit of a long shot for GTown's international studies (applying to SFS if I'm not mistaken). You can increase your chances by going to GTown's summer activities (the congress page or whatever- contact the school to find out). You could also show a little bit of diversity by taking quantitative AP classes like AP Physics / BC calc / Statistics. Good luck to you!

First, you need some SAT II scores (Georgetown "recommends" 3). I think you could be competitive for SFS, especially if you take necrophiliac's advice (which I think was very good). If, when applying, you think that you'll have a tough time getting into SFS, you could always apply to the College and try to transfer schools after your Freshman year at Georgetown.

Thanks for the replies! As for now, I'm still looking into Georgetown so I'm not so sure if I'd be applying to the College and majoring in Government, or attempting to get into SFS.

I'm looking into some summer programs - I was invited to a couple in DC, the only problem is trying to get some funding so that I can attend.

I will be taking the SAT II's in May, I just didn't put them on here because I don't have any scores yet ^^, I'm pretty sure I'll be taking U.S. History, Literature, and one of the Math levels.

Also, thanks for the headsup necrophiliac about the AP things. I've been invited into AP Calc & AP Physics, but I'm really not a great Math/Science student - I get A's in my Honors courses, but I really don't think I'd be able to handle the coursework in an AP math or science section.

Thanks for the advice, though! I really appreciate the replies.

I don't know why everybody is being so pessimistic. As a Gtown EA acceptee, I say that your stats are very, very similar to mine and I got into SFS. I think its a great match school for you.

Thank you so much!

You should really go to one of the summer programs for high school students that Georgetown offers. I did one last summer, and it really influenced me toward doing government at Georgetown. Check them out:

Georgetown University - School of Continuing Studies

If you want to do a summer program, are interested in government, and like Georgetown, the ones one that page are great. Also, I can answer any questions that you might have.

I disagree. I think (once she takes the SAT II's of course), that this is a rather competitive application. GPA, class rank, and test scores are all very much in the range they're looking for, an she has an acceptable record of leadership and responsibility. Plus, you overall seem to have some diversity cred (low income, classes on world religions, social justice orgs). What more do you guys want? I suppose some state/national level impact from EC's could help; and doing a summer program at gtown is nice I guess, but the vast majority of students who get in never do one in DC. I think this application has as much a shot as most who are admitted (although, with selectivity as high as Georgetown's, there's still nowhere close to a guarantee for anyone).

If you really want to go to DC to study, look into George Washington and American too of course.

And if you're trying to decide between MathI and MathII, take MathII. The curve is far more lenient.
