Chance me please for UC Berkeley

I will be applying for the class of 2022. Chance me please.
SAT: 1420
ACT: 30 (math: 34, reading: 27, english: 30, science: 30)
AP: None, im an international student.
Grades: mostly in the 90’s out of 100’s.
EC’s: State champion in robotics, Moderated a debate among delegates from around the world (~60 countries), Took part in leadership conferences, have my own charitable organization (have worked with the mayor, chief forest conservator), etc (so they are pretty good)
Essays: they are ok, mainly talked about robotics, love for coding, leadership, etc
No legacy, No donations. Both parents have masters degrees from UT Austin.

Also, I got 800’s on sat physics and sat math level 2.

If you were a California resident, you’d be a pretty competitive student for Cal. But seeing as you’re an international and it’s harder to get in as OOS and international, soo it’s hard to predict. You’d have to compare yourself with other internationals.

You will need to get your ACT and/or SAT score up, I think. These are on the low end, whether in-state or not.

My older brother was accepted CS 2 years ago with similar stats (30 ACT and 3.94 UW GPA). You have a good chance I believe, but it’s getting extremely difficult to get into college. I’d also look at other UC’s like SD and SC

I know an international with similar stats (except SAT is ~1500) in the College of Engineering. You’re competitive but if you can do better then obviously do that.

Consider UCB a Reach school due to the low acceptance rate. You are qualified but bumping up your test scores can help. Also spend time on your personal insight essays to stand out.

Best of luck.

I go to Berkeley right now, and I have a friend who is international in Engineering.
From what I see, you have very similar test scores and I’d say your extracurriculars are better.

But from what I understand, applying for financial aid puts you at a disadvantage for schools, and my friend did not apply for financial aid. That will impact your accept/reject status siginficantly.

Overall I’d say you have a good chance, but also be aware that if your school has many applicants more qualified than you they might take them instead of you.

Good luck to you

UC’s are need blind which means that applying for aid will not impact your chances. Since you are an International applicant, UC’s offer no financial aid for Internationals so they would assume you are full pay.

Also an FYI: The UC system has imposed a cap on out of state and International students, so the competition may be even greater.
