I applied for the early decision process, and ended up getting deferred, so I wanted to know how and where I would stand with the regular application process as well as any other colleges you all could recommend me.
Application Status: Deferred
Intended Major: Nursing, but decided to change it to Exploratory, because I want to finish my pre-reqs before I go into Nursing.
UW GPA: 3.1
W GPA: Don’t know
SAT: 1050
ACT: n/a
In state or Out of State? In-State
Strength of classes? 10 honors, 2 AP
Other colleges applied for? USF, UNF, FAMU, FSU
ECs: JROTC Sergeant, Agriscience, UAS Certified Drone Pilot, Digital Design, Writing
Hard to tell without knowing your weighted GPA, but based off your UW it seems like a stretch as does your SAT score. I highly recommend retaking your SAT and/or ACT
@JPGator98 Already retook the SAT, waiting for the scores to come back around the 22nd, and I guess my weighted GPA would be a 3.5, 3.4 at the most due to family issues that occurred during Freshman year.
My guess is that coupling freshman year issues with a low SAT score are what got you deferred. If your test scores have shown a marked improvement and your midyear grades are strong (nothing below a B, though 1 C should be okay), you have a decent chance of being accepted in March.
@frykers, I’ve seen many of your posts and it is clear that you really want to go to FSU. That kind of passion and ambition are to be commended. However, regardless of the circumstances, your stats simply are not there. A deferral or denial should not be unexpected.
My advice to you, if you truly want to go to FSU or any other “name-brand” University, stay at home for a year. Go to a local state college. If you already have AP or dual enrollment credits, you may be relatively close to an AA transfer degree already. Get good grades there then reapply to FSU as a transfer.
There are so many advantages to doing that. You can save a ton of money. You have time to improve your resume. Plus, after you transfer, you end up with a degree from wherever you really wanted to go in the first place. There is really no downside to that approach.
