<p>Regular Decision. Hoping for Stern (though I'm not sure that I'm even qualified, so probably not). Thanks in advance! :)</p>
<p>Background:
Male, Asian, from a large public school in the diverse city of LA (though the more suburban part), low-income family, first-gen college student (both parents from China).</p>
<p>GPA:<br>
Freshman: 4.00, 4.00
Sophomore: 3.60, 3.80
Junior: 4.00, 3.50
Senior: 4.40/4.60 (Semester not over yet, but pretty sure I'll end with 4.40 or 4.60).
[All Weighted; Semester 1, Semester 2]</p>
<p>Total Weighted GPA: 3.90
Total Unweighted GPA: 3.51
[Includes Semester 1 of Senior Year]</p>
<p>Class Rank: Top 17% [This isn't including Senior grades; I'm estimating at least to be in Top 15% with Senior grades].</p>
<p>SAT (one sitting):
Math: 800
Verbal: 680
Writing: 800
Essay: 11</p>
<p>SAT II:
Math II: 700+
Biology E: 700+
Chinese w/ Listening: 800</p>
<p>AP:
Calculus AB: 5
Chinese Language and Culture: 5
English Language and Composition: 4
United States History: 4
Environmental Science: 4</p>
<p>Taking class at the moment, will take test next May: Biology (expecting 4 or 5), Statistics (expecting 4 or 5), Psychology (expecting 5) - not sure if these even matter though, since I would have already been accepted/rejected by the time I take these :(</p>
<p>AP/Honors taken:
Freshman: English H, Biology H, and three years of Mandarin credits from a Challenge Exam taken in 8th Grade (probably doesn't matter anyway)
Sophomore: English H, Trig/PreCalc H, Chem H
Junior: AP English Language, AP Calculus AB, AP Environmental Science, AP United States History, AP Chinese
Senior: AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Psychology</p>
<p>Clubs/Volunteer/ECs - quite lacking in this category:
National Honor Society: 3 years
California Scholarship Federation: 3 years, lifetime member
Math Club/ United Sciences Club: 4 years, general members - helped organize field days for middle schools
Local Food Bank Volunteering: 2-4 hours a week
Local Library Volunteering: 1-2 hours a week
A3M Non-profit organization, helped with bone marrow registrations for a cancer patient: Weekly, Sophomore Summer</p>
<p>Awards/Recognition:
AP Scholar with Distinction
National AP Scholar (only after senior year though, so probably doesn't matter)
Commended Student in PSAT National Merit (just missed the cut-off for Semi-finalist - does this even count)</p>
<p>Letters of Recommendation:
One from an amazing English teacher; another from my guidance counselor</p>
<p>** Unfortunately, I have gotten 4 C's (Trig H, PreCalc H, AP Calc AB, AP USH) and 2 D's (AP Calc AB, AP USH) - probably going to kill my chances, ehh? - I don't quite remember what happened. Laziness, procrastination, mild depression - the usual - all kicked in and only recently have I started getting back up again :( Not going to make excuses though! My Senior Grades are /major/ improvements, while maintaining similar amount of rigorous classes **</p>
<p>Thanks for taking the time!! With my lackluster GPA, depressing C's and D's on my transcript, and few extracurriculars, I'm doubtful - still going to apply and am currently trying my best though!</p>
