I really really want to go to Stern. I will probably ED it as of now. Is it a reach for me? By the way I'm an Asian female. I heard that it's harder to get into NYU if you are asian because they have a lot of asian applicants...

You’re in a nicely competitive in the academics/ECs department, but NYU Stern really isn’t very easy to get in these days (I have a friend who got into Brown but not Stern for Fall 2011, for eg). I think they really look for business-related ECs or experience, you should be able to prove and elaborate on how you know what you’re getting into and why are drawn to a business education/career. I have friends with great IB scores, 42/45, good leadership and community service, but who didn’t get in, possibly the lack of business ECs or essays. ED will help a little though. As always, work the essays!

I really don’t mean to be a downer, but as rather conservative chancer as of now I’d say… deferred or possiblyy admit??? Hopefully I’m wrong about the deferred, but you just can never tell! Give it your best shot anyway :)

Good luck.

Thank you so much! As for how I’ve come to have a passion for finance, (which is most likely going to be my major) I’ve had experience writing up the financial reports for a few business plans/entrepreneurial projects I had been involved with in my EC’s. I’m writing about one of these experiences for a short answer question and about a research project for my essay. Do you think it’s a good choice of topics? Or do you think it would turn out to be too much of a “hi, here’s a list of what I’m good at” application?

Again, thank you for your fast reply~
