SO that is me lol. But the problem is that I failed a class in 9th gr, but average passed it in the end. Same in 11th gr. I failed 1st sen chem and pre cal and i avg passed it in the end. I failed them due to an illness i had. So I am scared about not even getting into college. What should my college essays be about?!?!?!?!!

Any tips or suggestions??? What could I do better my app? I really did make those charities!!! Please help!! THANKS!!! You guys have really helped me! If it wasnt for my illness, then i could have improved my GPA!

No reason to freak out. You can’t change your GPA, and your SAT is good, so at this point you should just focus on writing great essays and applications.

@Lpaige what should my essays be about?? Should i mention my sickness?

definitely mention your sickness. Write about it in your essay if you can. Make sure whoever is writing your recommendations (guidance counselor, teachers, etc) knows about it too. It will help. No reason to freak out.

^ Do not mention your illness in your essays. Essays are meant to tell a story which reflects your character. Leave any explanations/excuses for the “Additional Info” section.

IB environmental science (environmental systems and societies) is an SL only class…

Breathe

We can’t really chance you without knowing which schools you want to be chanced for…

You will be absolutely fine. At the end of this whole process, almost everyone is. You have good ECs, good scores, an explanation for your GPA. You may not end up exactly where you want to be/picture yourself right now, but it will work out and you will be happy.

Wow, you consider a 3.0GPA, lots of extracurriculars, Good ACT score and SAT score to be bad? You look to be in good shape. Freshman year shouldn’t matter too much btw

Thanks guys!!! Do you know what school may even consider me??

There are literally more than a thousand schools that would love to have you and your amazing SAT score. Don’t freak out. To make a preliminary list, use one of the many college search features, put in your stats and any preferences you may have, and see what it spits out. My personal favorite search tool is the Collegeboard’s BigFuture.
Also, talk to your parents about finances. Once you find a few schools you are interested in, sit down with them and run the NPC (Net Price Calculator) on the schools’ websites. It should give you a general idea of how much aid you can expect to receive, provided your parents are not divorced or do not own their own business.

are you unsure of what state you are in? In another thread you say that you are in texas

Sorry, OP. I just realized what it might’ve looked like when I said “excuses.” It wasn’t my intention to belittle your illness. Just trying to emphasize how delicate essays can be. Sorry. As for your stats -yes, you will get into college. You might wanna focus on schools that place more value on test scores -Ex. places where you could get automatic merit on SAT, yet GPA is given little/no consideration for the scholarships. I know you’re more worried about admission itself, but if you’re OK for scholarships at a certain school, that’s a good indicator of admission. Regardless, your GPA will be evaluated into the context of your situation.

Thank You Guys!!! The main issue that i have struggled with in high-school is the fact that I failed 3 classes, but avg passed them at the end of the year! So that has been my major worry.Thank you for your thoughts. Yes, I am a Texas resident. I was considering NYU and Boston University as options. But i know that they are a reach. I will apply to them though. Thank you all for your responses.

I moved to NY recently…like 2 weeks ago.

??

if you are a junior (rising senior) and you just moved to NY a couple weeks ago, then you wont graduate from a
TX school, you dont live there anymore, so how can you be a TX resident. You have lost that.

Mate gonna tell you straight up that you need to lower your sights a bit. I feel ya that you are feeling anxious because you’ll have to think about where you will want to go to college but keeping things realistic is how you should go. Find 2-3 schools that you would be fine going to that would guarantee you admission right now (safety). Then 2-3 middles and finally 1-2 reaches.

You shouldn’t worry–at all—about getting into college. You will be fine, i can guarantee you that. Whether its your dream college or maybe some smaller state school is up to you in the next few months. Either option is fine, as transferring up is always an option.

@mom2collegekids‌ Done even reply to this “guy” anymore. OP posted on the Harvard thread two years ago pretending to be a female junior.
