Chance Me Please! I'll chance back ASAP!

Hi I am an african american male and a junior at a top 5 high school here in Georgia (Magnet). Like most people at my school, I have started thinking about what schools I should apply to once senior year rolls around. After browsing the forum I bit I figured that I'd give this chancing thing a go! If it helps I am planning on major in Comp Sci or Computer Engineering.

-Georgia Tech
-UMich
-Texas Tech

Please leave a comment! Any advice is appreciated. Also, if you want, post a link to your thread so I can chance back.

I think for you Texas Tech should definitely be a safety. You probably will be accepted to Georgia Tech because you have great credentials as well as in-state status. Also, I’d say UT-Austin would be a match for you. Sorry I don’t know much about the rest of the schools you listed, but you seem like a very qualified candidate. Good luck!

-UC-Berkeley: match
-University of Illinois-UC: safety
-Purdue University: safety
-UT-Austin: match
-UCLA: match
-Georgia Tech: mid-reach
-UMich: mid-reach
-Texas Tech: match

chance me?

UMich and UC Berkeley would be a reach (low to mid) because there is going to be a lot of other applicants w/ the same or better credentials. Why retake th SAT when you did well on the ACT (unless you didn’t do ACT Writing or it’s a personal thing)?

Texas, UCLA and Georgia Tech are matches, you’ve got what it takes but it’s not set in stone.

Idk about the rest.

Thanks

@avogadro6022‌ @stephli‌ @alsa2000‌ Thank you guys for chancing me. I want to retake the SAT because I know I can do better. It is kind of a personal thing. It’s not the end of the world if I don’t get what I want, but I was so close to breaking 2000…

Bump

Considering URM with ACT 33 and GPA 3.8, you do have a good chance at all these schools. Did you take the ACT with writing? If you did, you can forget about the SAT1.

Oops, guess I left it out. I did take the writing section of the ACT.

I would say your biggest reaches would be UCLA, UC Berkeley or UMichigan, but only because they all get a ton of applications. You have a very good chance at all of them!

Good Luck! Chance me back?

You don’t need to retake the SAT, just send your ACT. Your EC’s are not bad, but it would help to bolster them before you apply.

Berkeley: low reach
UIUC: match
Purdue: match
UT Austin: match
GT: match
UCLA: match
UMich: match
Texas Tech: safety

Chance back

Bump. Last one I swear

My friend had similar statistics and was accepted into UCB and UCLA. You can definitely get into Purdue.

chance me too please? I am planning to transfer to Santa Clara University for Winter 2014 admission as an Engineering Physics major which is under letters and sciences. I will be a sophomore in college at the time of transfer. My gpa will be approx 3.45 and I will be done with 41 semester units after summer (completing the courses they want for transferring into my major school as well). I work 3 jobs, have been volunteering regularly at a non profit organization for 3 years (have marked many achievements here), and started two clubs in my community college. Though I know it is not as important as grades and extra curriculars, I included it in my application so I decided to share it as well. My dad’s brother went to the school, I have visited and talked to an admissions counselor, and although it is not my religion my mom has attended private christian schools until college and follows the same faith.
