Ok so I already posted a few days ago but only got 1 response so I'm just going to add another one with more detail. I go to a ranked private school in MA. I have a 3.5 GPA. My school only gives out weighted GPAs, so I have no idea what my unweighted would be. But, I take all accelerated classes (at my school accelerated is equivalent to honors at a public school), several honors, and one AP. I got a 1710 on my SATs (620 math 490 reading 600 writing). I will definitely be taking them again and I hope for about a 550 in reading. My ECs are pretty good. Rugby (9,10), Spring Track (11,12) Winter Track (12), Amnesty International club (11,12) Phantom Gourmet club (10,11,12) Protect Animal Rights club (12, vp/founder).

Reach School: northeastern, boston university, Elon, James Madison, uconn

Target schools: clemson, unc Charlotte, providence, college of charleston, umass Amherst

Safety schools: high point, fairfield, university of rhode island, quinnipiac

Without your ec’s, you would be pretty bland. But with them and a 550 reading you have a good chance at most of those schools, your safeties are good except uri as a oos is harder. Umass is pretty likely, same with Syracuse, but BU could be more difficult.

I agree with the poster above–BU is slightly more finicky in terms of scores, but you’ll get into at least your safeties and maybe a few others. You definitely need to get that 490 up. Have you tried the ACT at all? Also, try to make your senior schedule a little more rigorous and be sure to highlight the significance of your EC’s.

Id say your in at safeties and UNC charolotte. If you have a 3.5 weighted that probably mean you have a 2 something weighted which doesnt get you into alot of schools, but since I dont know it I cant be sure. Also if money is an issue those OOS publics probably wont give you much if any aid even if you get accepted. If you can get your scores higher, id say 2000+ you might be able to offset your low GPA at some of target or even reach schools. Good luck!
