Chance me please? I'll chance back!

I have a thread in the chance forum for you to look at, but its the same thing as this with other schools in mind, such as MIT, Stanford, Princeton, CalTech, and some UCs. However, I'm especially interested in Cornell because my father worked there and I was born in that city (lol and I ended up in Cali). Please chance me, and I will chance back if you like! (Please leave a link.) I'd love critique and feedback.

Prospective major: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Business

Some things to consider:

-Moved to current high school in 10th grade, I've moved 8 times in my life between America and Canada and several cities
-Qualify for free lunch
-Full Chinese/female
-First generation

Now on to other things:

GPA: 3.9 (or 3.8, our system is confusing) UW, 4.5 W (Honors not weighted)
ACT: 33 (not sending SAT)
SAT: 2050....ouch. Yeah that's not going anywhere.
APs: World History, Composition, Literature, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Calculus BC, Economy
Fluent in Chinese, English, and Spanish.

Clubs:
-FIRST Robotics (Director of Communications, probably going to be Director of Electronics and Programming)
-President of Math Team
-Science Fair (9th grade), Honorable Mention
-Science Olympiad (10th grade), 3rd in Robot Arm
-Key Club (prob VP)
-Computer Science (prob VP, currently secretary)
-CSF all years

-300+ hours volunteering, 300+ hours at robotics in less than 6 weeks
-Started up several FLL (kids robotics) teams and a FLL tournament, managed two more tournaments
-Several art awards, including Best of Show and 1st place for my photorealistic artwork
-Learned Java, C++, HTML, CAD in Creo 2.0
-Part of t-shirt cannon project for Fresno Grizzlies team, some of my own projects in generating environmentally friendly electricity
-Judo (blue belt), avid lover of tennis and badminton
-Crime Stoppers' Youth Advisory Board 12-13
-Speech and Debate
-History Day

I absolutely love love love my robotics team! I spend all my time there, learning new things relating to STEM and teaching all I can about electronics and programming. I support FLL, robotics for kids in elementary school, and I manage some tournaments and start teams. I also create other outreach events, including a robotics tour at elementary school carnivals to spread STEM to young students, and I wrote an Engineering Documentation binder that helped my team win the Engineering Inspiration Award this year. I will probably become the Director of Electronics and Programming this year. Apart from robotics, I make my own projects by reusing bikes to invent methods of generating clean energy. My parents think I should study more, but....that's not as fun....

I also moved several times. Born in New York, I moved to Ontario where I moved twice, then moved to Ohio, then moved back to Ontario to move twice again, and then moved to California, where I moved within the same town three times and moved schools again and again. It's actually a really depressing story, planning to make some good essays with these and ECs.

All ECs are this year only- didn't include past years unless otherwise noted. Love photorealistic color pencil drawings. I've won a few awards through those, but I discovered my love of design through art and robotics fusion! I love both, but now my art talent is just a hobby.

I think you have a really great chance! You obviously have aptitude for your chosen fields (though business is a bit out of place), and the dedication to robotics is really interesting. Being a girl applying to engineering and first gen will also help you out.

Cornell: High match/very low reach provided you have good essays and rec’s.

Being a girl with a big robotics background applying to engineering is definitely a hook. However, your stats are around average for a student applying to engineering so ED should help to put you in a good place.

On a separate note, I hear Cornell doesn’t participate in score choice so that SAT might have to be sent. However, your ACT should prove that you have competitive scores for engineering. It will also help if you have any residual connections to the school through your dad.

Beyond that, it’s just like what Paintallthestuff said. Just write strong essays and show your passion for STEM and robotics.

Good luck!

Chance back?: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/1520965-chance-me-aem-ed.html</a></p>

this is actually really good. (: i actually moved a lot to and ended up going to like 12 different schools all throughout my life, so i feel you.
your dedication in your applied field will help you out, and i would say that early for you would give you a really good chance! as long as you can write your essay well, i’ll say you have no problem getting in with the good balance of school and extracurrics.
