NYUAD or NYUSH are the only places I really want to attend. The financial aid is good, and I'm very interested in the global, urbane feel of these campuses! But I'm afraid my stats aren't good enough. I got my transcripts. which is why I made another thread. Please chance me?

I also have recs from the counselor, a subject teacher and the school principal. I'm Indian and I've lived in the Middle East all my life, so will that perhaps give me an edge at NYUAD?

Thank you!!

Bump bump bump
Anybody?

Since you are fluent in Hindi, I’m guessing you’re an Indian?
Your EC’s are pretty amazing, but your scores may be slightly(very slightly) on the lower side, given the fact that you are an International applicant.
Also , since some of your EC’s seem very focused on languages and performance , I’m guessing you want to do something in the Liberal Arts? If so , it seems like a good overall application.
I would suggest giving the SAT again(provided you have the time) just to get a 2150 or maybe a 2200.
Best of luck!

Oh sorry , you lived in the Middle East so some of what

Oh sorry , you lived in the Middle East so some of whaT I said may be invalid. :P

Umm, where are you getting the information that FA is good? NYU is notorious for BAD financial aid. Unless you have something that the school REALLY wants, you won’t get much aid with a 2100…if any.

@ivyaspirant14 I live and have grown up in the middle east, but I’m Indian. I was wondering though, will that C in Junior Year hurt me too much? And somewhat liberal arts? I was thinking of Economics or Philosophy maybe - my interests are very varied, haha! ^_^

@GA2012MOM I was talking about NYU Abu Dhabi, where they are super generous with financial aid. I qualify for it, since my parents’ income is below a certain bracket. ^_^

Since you are thinking of doing an Economics course, the requirement for a decent Math grade is a given. Apart from the very conspicuous “C”, I also see A+'s and A’s so I don’t think a bad Math grade in one year will hurt you too much.

Oh, sorry, I missed that and I didn’t realize they offer generous aid. Good luck.

@GA2012MOM Thank you. :)

@ivyaspirant14 Thank you. Yes, a good math grade would be a requisite, but it’s funny how I find Economics stand alone macro quite easy, but math hard. I suppose college Econ will be quite different from basic high school Micro/Macro though.

Thanks for the chance!

Be warned, however, that NYU has TERRIBLE financial aid, usually bottom half of all schools in the nation. International students may or may not receive an advantage; for Abu Dhabi, you probably won’t have an advantage, but for Shanghai that could be a big diversity thing. You’re language and background make you more compelling than the average white kid who wants to study abroad for the novelty.

Overall, I’d say you have a pretty good chance of getting in to NYU. EC’s and GPA are there, SAT scores are in the ballpark.

Ah, okay then! On the App, I’ve ticked off NYUAD and NYUSH. I’m not planning for NYUNY because I know my parents can’t afford it without aid. For NYUAD specifically, is there anything that could possibly strengthen my application?
Thank you!!

looks as if you have a solid chance!

Thank you!! @wildfactor
