<p>Hi! I'm planning to apply ED II to NYUAD but I don't know if I'm good enough, :(</p>
<p>9th grade - 94% overall
10th grade - 95% overall
11th grade - 80% overall (bad I know, but Math pulled me down. :( )
12th grade - So far everything had been okay, and my latest test is at a 89%. My predicted grades are 90+
SAT: 2100</p>
<p>ECs:
Service Project to Boronka
Helped the school raise funds for charity
Martial arts for 5 years
Piano for 10 years and lots of performances
Won a national writing competition
Elected School Prefect
Awards for Academic Achievement in 9th, 10th and 11th
Model United Nations Conference
Represented the school at various spelling contests
Came in the top percentile at the International English Olympiad</p>
<p>I also have recs from the counselor, a subject teacher and the school principal. And I live in Oman and have UAE resident ship, if that counts?</p>
<p>I also have an Award for Achievement in Music and I’m fluent in English, Hindi and Assamese. I’m really liking NYUAD because of how globally diverse it is and I think I’d fit in well there. ^_^</p>
<p>If you live in Oman, are your percentage averages of the same “weight” as in the US?
what percentage students get 80% or more? 80% is a B- in the US (not that good), but a B+ in some school systems and even a top award above A+ in other systems… So your grades could be very respectable or not that good!
What’s your rank? Is your school a prep school, an international school, a local school? What type of curriculum are you following (AP, IB, other?)
Are you an American citizen? Do you speak Arabic?
All of these would affect how competitive you are for NYU AD.</p>
<p>Well, in 11th grade I was in the top 10 ranks of 150 students, so I suppose that’s decent? I study under an Indian Board, so it is expected for 11th grade marking to be harsh as they’re preparing us for our final 12th Board exams.
My rank is, like I said around the top 6% of the grade?
My school follows the Indian curriculum, so in context with Oman, it would be considered International, I guess. An Indian school in Oman.
I’m an Indian citizen, and I’m quite good at conversational Arabic.
How competitive do you think I am for NYUAD? @MYOS1634
Thank you for your response!!</p>
<p>I think that your SAT scores are fine. You can try I don’t think theres any harm. Do you think I stand any chances?</p>
<p>9th grade: took 10subjects scored average B/A
10th grade: took 10 subjects scored avg A/B, also did IGCSE got 1 A 3B 1C
11th grade: ( a bit of downfall) 2B, 2D ( I wasn’t allowed to take subjects I wanted)

<p>@Camileali: you need to start your own thread rather than “hijacking” shystarryskies’. :)</p>
<p>your grades are really low for NYUAD.
Your EC’s are terrific but I’m not sure they’d make up for 2Ds, even keeping in mind that as British Ds they’d be American C+.</p>
<p>What’s your college list?</p>
<p>Why in the world would you not take ALevels, when 1° most American universities will want them and 2° getting C’s on ALevels means college credits ie., more free-choice classes in college.</p>
<p>@shystarryskies: Your guidance counselor will need to indicate what percentage of the class gets 80%, 83, etc, and explain your GPA places you in the top 5% of your class (roughly). This is very important, because clearly the grades at your school are at least -8/-10 compared to American grades. If 80% = top 6% it really needs to be spelled out in your school profile and/or recommendation.</p>
<p>I know I need to. I’m sorry @Shystarryskies
I might be sitting for my a levels then. Which should make up for the DD. So possibly get ABB
And I’m hoping to get 2100+ in SATs.
I don’t have a college list really. Cause I’m not allowed to go abroad. My parents agreed to UAE. And I’m hoping Canada</p>
