I appreciate this tank you if you want me to chance you back tell me!

ur standerdized test scores are ivy-material; so that helps alot. (well, im talking more the sat2’s, but still). Im not sure though if ur story is so straigt-forward; you have no time to maintain even a 3.0 gpa in easy classes, have 2 jobs and are suffering financially , yet you have 500+ hours for volunteer work??? i would think you shouldve worried about the gpa first. Anyway, ur chances seem to be decent. I would advise taking the SAT. Your SAT2 scores (mainly math) imply you would do great. so ide put it at “low-mid reach”, but i could be aliitle off.

good luck!

p.s. can u please chance me back!! on irst page titled “NYU chances- and im not the typical CCer”.

I think you have a good shot and agree with the poster up thread that it is probably a “low reach”. However, I also agree with the poster that your situation is a source of confusion i.e. not being able to take difficult classes/increase your GPA but having time for loads of CC? I’m not sure what the explanation is for that but you’ll just have to “spin” that properly and in your favor in admissions essays.

Your ACT is great and actually surpasses BU’s recent incoming classes’ 75th percentile scores. SAT 2s are fantastic, extracurriculars are good. Obviously you being a first generation is a big push. Your families income will be evaluated and also be a slight help in admissions (and aid, I believe they give need based). Work experience is looked at favorably.

The 2.8 is a ding, however the biggest negative is that they were in “simple classes”. You mentioned this will be part of your admissions essay and I think you should also explain (perhaps in an addendum and not the required essay) why this will not effect you in university.

A 3.6 would probably make you a shoo-in for BU. However, how would you achieve this? Aren’t you a senior at this point, making it difficult for such a huge increase in GPA?

If you don’t get into BU, your scores on the SAT/SAT 2 and the fact that you’re a first generation college student will get you admitted into some great universities so don’t sweat it!

Thanks man!
Also the 3.6 is in my senior year first semester because they look at 1st semester grades.
Do you know of any other good schools for business , preferably in the east coast in areas like Boston or MA?
Appreciate the help. :)

The 3.6 will help because it shows an “upward trend” in grades that admissions like to see. Still, your overall GPA is more important. I’m not sure how much a good GPA in your senior year will raise your overall GPA, but it will certainly help somewhat in admissions.
