chance me please! - not top 10%

<p>I just submitted my application on Nov. 30th, and I have no idea if I have any hope... Could anyone help me out?</p>

<p>I applied to the School of Education seeking elementary school teacher certification. My 2nd choice was social work.
I'm in-state
Hispanic female
3.873 GPA
rank 88/464 (from very competitive IB school in Austin)
1850 on SAT (650 CR, 620 M, 580 W)
Took 5 AP classes
Made a 4 on the English AP</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
-Clarinet Section leader for 2 years
-Marching band member for 4 years
-Member of schools top band, 1st chair bass clarinet for 4 years
-French club member (9-10), historian (11), and VP (12)
-2nd degree black belt in tae kwon do
-Assistant instructor at tae kwon do school (teach the childrens class)
-2nd degree black belt candidate at another tae kwon do school
-member of NHS and mu alpha theta for 2 years
-Future Teachers of America member
-Longhorn Music Camp camper, 1st band member 2 years</p>

<p>Volunteer experience
-Volunteer counselor at childrens' art camp
-Volunteered for school's band fundraiser
-Austin State School Volunteer
-Souper Bowl of Caring food drive committee member
-Member of elementary school and high school's play orchestra </p>

<p>Work Experience:
I've worked between 15-25 hours a week from may 09-present at a tanning salon.</p>

<p>Awards:
-3rd chair-all region band bass clarinet
-5th chair-all region band bass clarinet
-6th chair-all region band bass clarinet
-2nd chair all city band member
-2nd chair all city band member
-1 (highest rating) on ensemble at state solo and ensemble contest</p>

<p>Lastly I had pretty solid essays and 2 recommendations sent. </p>

<p>Your rank hurts, but everything else looks great, choice of major is a good one. It is really just going to depend on how many spots are taken by the top 10%ers. Good luck!!</p>
