Chance me please! - NYU (NY/Shanghai), Boston Univ., Brown/RISD DD, etc.

Hey guys! I’m about to wrap up my junior year and wanted to post here to see what my current chances look like for getting into some of my top schools. As a heads up, I really only care about my chances for NYU – I wouldn’t mind if I didn’t get into any of the other schools listed below, but they’re still on my list. Thanks for taking a look!

Honestly, this year was my worst year yet. And that’s bad for junior year. I underestimated how much my professional life would infringe on my school life, which impacted my grades (see bottom for all grades up until now). That’s why I’m posting here – will my EC’s and ACT score outweigh my meh grades this year?

I’d work on the ACT and GPA! Senior year classes are usually easier, so it shouldn’t be as difficult to get good grades in them. Shoot for a 33/34 on the ACT and if you got your GPA up to even 3.8 or 3.85, that’d be good! You’re super qualified but higher scores may help you get more money.

Wow, it’s weird looking back on this four months later and in the midst of college applications. Thank you for your insight! I took the ACT again just after this post and, unfortunately, got the same score. That GPA is healthier this year, but the grades I got last year cut a whole half point off my GPA (gah, why can’t I just use the grade on my stats final as my final grade??). Unfortunate, but what can ya’ do?

I feel very uncertain about my acceptance chances, but hopefully the letters of rec and essays will help!

Thanks again.
