It doesn't seem as though your boards and activities are really strong enough to compensate for your GPA. An 83.9 is probably equal to only about a 2.8 or something, especially since this is your weighted gpa, it is very low for GW.
Unless your "Why I Screwed UpMy Grades in HS" essay is phenomenal , and really believable, I would say you are not in. Sorry. You can always try to do better in college and transfer in.

I do not want to sound mean or anything, but you are nowhere close. You would not even get in ED.

Your GPA is nowhere near the average

Your SAT is about 100 points below the GW average

Your ECs are unimpressive

3 APs is fairly low

Wow sorry my friend was over and posted this on my account. It turns out he DID get in with those grades ED II. So yeah, I guess not being "anywhere close" is just a little bit off..

Why did he ask about RD then?

If your "friend" wanted a correct prediction of his chances, he should have specified that he was applying ED. The statistics are very different.

Somehow I doubt your story. Why would someone who got in ED post an RD chances thread after they have already been accepted. They wouldn't.

The only people at GW with B-/C+ HS GPAs are on the basketball team.

I don't know why he asked about RD. Probably to make himself feel good knowing you would tell him he wouldn't get in when he did. You can check out my other posts if you want I'm already in ED to NYU so I really have no reason to post. I got an email saying that people responded to my message on the GW board and i was confused and asked him if he went on and he told me he posted this question.

There has to be something else in his application that he did not post. I have been on this board for 2-3 years and have seen hundreds of chances posts, and I have never seen someone with such low scores get accepted.

Is he a legacy? Did he interview? Is he a urm?

No, no, and no(he's Indian). I read one of his essays and it was really good, but honestly I don't know how he got in, but obviously I'm happy he did.

yeah im the one with those stats who got in. i have much more extracurrics..just didnt post them. my essays were pretty good. fantosme so yeah so much for your "anywhere close"...

and yeah i honestly still don't know how i got in either but w.e im in so who gives a ****

Nice message I got from you, telling me to "eat your balls". It is good to know my institution is now taking scumbags with C+ averages and weak test scores. It is no wonder we are not in the USNWR Top 50.

Huey and I were having a civil conversation regarding why you got accepted, because I was curious as I get a number of private messages per week asking about chances. Knowing more information helps me better evaluate applicants.

no problem:)

and im pretty sure an 83.99 isnt a c+ but thats just me... i mean i am an idiot right?

u just sound like an overall douchebag...sry if i offended anyone

PEEJAY said 84 weighted is a 2.8, which is a C+ average, and that was never refuted.

I have helped hundreds of people on this board, so I am not an "overall douchebag". You have to learn to deal with criticism.

It doesn't matter anymore, so just let this topic die.

Actually, a 2.8 is a B minus average, not a C plus.

3.0 is a B average, 2.7 is a b minus average, 2.3 is a C plus average.

In any event, it seemed low to me for GW, but, I'm sure they had a compelling reason to accept him. Good luck to you!

Actually, 83.9 is almost 84. I think 84.5 would be considered a B or a 3.0.

So, maybe his GPA is more like 2.9. Whatever.

Best of luck.

Hi. I got in ED1 and my gpa is like a 2.9 and sats total are 1900. Don't give up hope.. You may be surprised!
