@deadroses @ethanurban9 thank you both! does high match mean like a 50/50 chance?
High match is aa 50/50 chance, more or less.
I think you have good chances at all of them, but a huge part of it is luck! Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1939905-chance-me.html#latest
@ucbalumnus how are they high matches? I used the dataset thing you gave me and for ucsb the percent of kids admitted with 3.8-4.19 or below was over 70% and over/around 60% for both Uci and ucd. Additionally my test scores would help wouldn’t they, even though UCs apparently don’t consider scores as important. I don’t understand why these are high matches…they seem to be solid matches based on capped uc GPA alone.
@yalehopeful017 thank you!! I’ll definitely chance you later on today
2015 frosh admit rates for applicants with GPA 3.80-4.19 were:
12% UCB
14% UCLA
39% UCSD
49% UCSB
53% UCD
57% UCI
@ucbalumnus
For UCSB it says 50% 3.80-4.19 and 11% below that…that adds up to 61%
UCI it says 48% 3.80-4.19 and 12% 3.40-3.79…60%
UCD it says 48% 3.80-4.19 and 8% 3.40-3.79…56% total
UCSD it says 41% 3.80-4.19 and 6% 3.40-3.79…46 total
Also for UCB the 3.80-4.19 admit rate for last time was 29%…not 12%. And 30% for UCB.
Idk why the numbers you’re getting are different
@poa34355: You do not add the admit rates together for different GPA ranges. You can only apply with one UC GPA (capped weighted UC GPA) which is used for the statistical data. Using this link, I get 12% also at UCB for 2015 Freshman admits (GPA range 3.80-4.19) . http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/freshman-admissions-summary
Are selecting Freshman admit rate and HS GPA and specific campus (not Campuswide?)
Here are the different admit rates for 2015 based on UC GPA ranges. As you can see you cannot add them up since they do not equal 100%.
Freshman Admits for UC GPA of 3.0-3.39:
UCM: 42%
UCR: 25%
UCSC: 10%
UCI: 4%
UCD: 3%
UCB/UCLA/UCSD/UCSB: 1%
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.40-3.79:
UCB: 2%
UCLA: 3%
UCSD: 6%
UCD: 11%
UCSB: 13%
UCI: 16%
UCSC: 47%
UCR: 64%
UCM: 80%
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19:
UCB: 12%
UCLA: 14%
UCSD: 39%
UCSB: 49%
UCD: 52%
UCI: 57%
UCSC: 83%
UCR: 90%
UCM: 92%
Freshman admit rate for UC GPA of 4.20 or higher:
UCB: 46%
UCLA: 53%
UCSD: 88%
UCSB: 88%
UCD: 89%
UCI: 97%
UCSC: 95%
UCR: 99%
UCM: 98%
Yes I am. It is still telling me that 29% of admits had GPA 3.8-4.19. @Gumbymom
Wish I can send you a screen shot but cannot right now. If you selected all the above , you get the line graph then click on the end of the line, far right and a popup shows up which displays the admit rate 2015 for that GPA range. I have done several times for Freshman admit rate/Campus Berkeley/HS GPA and GPA range 3.80-4.19.
@Gumbymom OHH ok got it! I was looking at “Freshman Admits,” not “Freshman Admit Rate.” How come in the “Freshman Admits” part the numbers are different? Also, how accurate is this dataset? It doesn’t account for test scores and EC’s. It also doesn’t account for uncapped GPA which I think B and LA use, as well as rigor, which they all consider to be very important?
The stats are only based on UC GPA (capped weighted). It is just a guideline to give applicants an idea of their chances based on GPA only. Test scores/EC’s, essays and intended major will all be considered, but the UC’s are very GPA focused so the website can be used to give an applicant and idea if they are in the ballpark.
I find the %'s as a pretty good indicator when I can compare my son’s UC GPA’s to the Historical and Specific rate admit rates for Years 2013-2014 and their acceptances and rejections.
@Gumbymom So since my capped GPA is lower but my uncapped is high, will this help me at UCB/UCLA? And for the others, I am average/above average, but will my rigor help me?
Lots of other applicants will have significantly higher uncapped versus capped GPAs.
@ucbalumnus Berkeley’s average uncapped for the campus as whole is 4.41…I think I am able to say that I am at the higher end of the spectrum, especially since I’m applying to L&S? And most people who have capped of 4.2+ have uncapped of about 4.4-4.5…and my uncapped is 4.54. I’m not sure what you’re trying to say?
