Chance Me Please. (UCSD)

I really want to go to UCSD…

UC GPA: 4.1
ACT: 33 (Retaking soon)
SAT US History: 730
SAT Math II: 800

EC:
Track and Field Four Years (Varsity)
Played Cello for many years and have a lot to write about it
Summer Internship with a recommendation letter
Vice President of School Club
Taekwondo Black Belt (Weakest Extra Curricular)

Korean-American California Resident
Interested Majors: Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics

Also, I got 5’s and 4’s on my AP Tests: (AP USH, Chem, Calc BC, Lang)

You have competitive test scores, good EC’s but UC GPA below average for CS. You would have better chances as a Chemistry major since it is not a capped major like CS and Physics.

UCSD: High Match 50/50

Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19:

UCB: 14%
UCLA: 14%
UCSD: 44%
UCSB: 54%
UCD: 58%
UCI: 65%
UCSC: 85%
UCR: 94%
UCM: 96%

Thanks for the quick response! Since you believe my chances are 50/50, is there anything I can do to tip the scale to favor admission? My college essays aren’t phenomenal but they’re good enough (according to counselor)

Also, where did you get the information about the UC GPA being between 3.8-4.19? Thank you!

You probably applied already but you shud have put CS as primary and chem as alt major.

@Gumbymom Where did you get your stats? Since when did UCSB have a 25th SAT of 1290? I just checked and it is 1210, please edit your post as you are misleading people with false information.

@sl6588: Cannot edit post but I have updated UCSB’s 25th percentile for the SAT at 1210. Thank you for catching the mistake.

@Gumbymom You did edit the post, you deleted the entire SAT data set you posted instead of editing the number.

@sl6588: I did not delete anything since you only have 15 minutes to edit posts which I cannot do. You must be thinking of another post I made since the original post above is form 07-29-17. I stated I made a mistake. People are human and as you found out, applicants can also easily look up the information themselves. I try to be as accurate as possible but one typo and you have become the CC police???
