I know i probably have a low chance ( due to all the high scoring people posting chances) but is there an hope at all? please give me tips and advice

Jean Jordan will absolutely love your profile.....try to get your SAT's a bit higher (or try ACT) and IMO, they would love to have you.....Southern applicant a big plus....Why EDII and not EDI though?

They will tell you in admissions that it doesn't matter....but not really sure....I think based on your particular situation, you may want to let them know why you didn't apply EDI....It would be a great idea to develop a relationship with your admissions counselor to ask them these questions, but, remember that Emory reads apps randomly; your admissions counselor may have no say in your admissions decision when push comes to shove......

All I gotta say is if you get your scores up a bit..then there's a slight chance. However, you're in the bottom of the applicants, BUT..they have to take all your demographics and socioeconomic status into play, so that will definitely help ALOT (1st gen, african-american). Actually, your ACT score is pretty good..submit that not your SATs.

i agree with BruinsJEW, submit ACT... I think 31 is like aroound 1400 out of 1600 if you convert to SAT? that's whole lot better than 1210 for your SAT.

Your GPA is a bit low, but the rigor of your course load and ECs speak for themselves. You should be golden at Oxford, and you still have quite a chance at Emory. Good luck!

Definetly apply ED, as long as recs and essays are good, Emory is a match for you, especially if you can show some strong upward trend. However, that being said, Emory has been getting more selective progressively and this year will most likely be harder than last.

if you score higher on the ACT than the SAT, and you've sent both scores to emory, do they still utilize the SAT score when evaluating your application or would they disregard the SAT score?

I think you actually have a fair chance. You're GPA is the only thing that can hold you back, but you've got a good ACT score, seem like you've been involved with good things, and a strong essay helps a ton. Make sure you develop a good relationship with your teachers. A good letter of rec. goes a long way. Also emphasize that you took difficult classes. A lot of schools are starting to look at the types of classes you take instead of you GPA.

Apply ED and know that shining teacher recs are more important that GPA in some cases, and I think this mihgt be one of them. Emory does try to snag URMs.

My brother goes to Oxford and is going to Emory his Junior and Senior year and he only got a 1760 total on his SATS, and had a 92 cumulative average...and hes going for almost free.
