I mostly told about my background: I am a Kurdish person who was raised next to the Iraqi border and could not receive education until 5th grade. I left my family behind and moved 1000 miles away when I was 11. I learned my first English word three years ago. I want to study economics-finance.
Additional Info:
I need 15k per year financial aid.
I have a recommendation from the CEO of Coca-Cola Company.
Your SAT score is 98 percentile. It is quite good. Besides Mr. Kent (Turkish-American), are your teachers/guidance counselor writing recommendations. You never know which school you will get in and good luck.
ECs are pretty solid. SAT is great, you should definitely take the ACT. Try to get recs from teachers/counselors as previous posters have exclaimed. You seem to be a well rounded and focused applicant.
Low reach - Cornell, Duke
High Match - Emory
Match - NYU
I don’t feel like looking it up, but if any of the schools that you are looking at require /recommend 2 SAT II tests, Math I and Math II normally don’t count as two.
Also, you say that you need 15k financial aid. That implies that you are getting 60k from somewhere else. If it from your parents, have you look to see if the 15k is reasonable? Colleges determine how much you can contribute, not the other way around. Merit aid for the listed schools are hard to nonexistent.
I think you have very good chances, but of course being international will be a disadvantage for you. Right now, all you can do is make sure that your essays are well-written and amazing. If you do the essays right, you can probably get into most if not all of your schools. Good luck!
I think you have great chances. in regards to being international, they are definitely looking for students from the middle east with your back story because it is so unique. best of luck!!
The schools have very limited funds and most of those funds go to domestic students. Internationals get very limited funding. The colleges tell you what they can fund. You don’t tell them how much you need; they tell you what they can give.
Based on recs and statistics, solid international applicant for NYU and maybe Emory. The rest will be reaches and will depend on how strong your essays are, and if you’ve shown a lot of interest I’d say
