Currently head mechanical engineer for a fuel cell prototype car at my school. I will be the Head Engineer overseeing all aspects of the project next year. We are the only educational institute in CT that is building anything like this. (this includes UCONN).

I'm also doing a solo project where I plan on installing GE Watt Stations which are electric car charging stations. We will be the first high school to do this if this project proceeds as planned.

RSF, if you school reports the unweighted GPA on your transcript I strongly suggest you do everything in your power to raise and keep unweighted above 3.5 . Some view that to be a sort of statistical cut off, and statistically speaking, your chances are very diminished under that. You did not tell us your reported weighted GPA either.
Since the process is holistic, you will receive credit for the rigor of your school and your accomplishments, but at the same time, if so many students at your school are in the 4.0 range you will not then be in the top 10% – which is another metric UMich loosely uses in many cases to weight an appicant – eg. how competitive is your performance within your environment. Do you happen to know your rank?

I think you are probably a low to mid reach given your GPA and subsequent decile. The OOS applicant pool for the CoE is pretty competitive. Good luck.

what if he tried to get into LSA do you think he would get in considering he is OOS? Maybe he could get in LSA and transfer to engineering? RSFJustin- Do a lot of kids from your school apply to Michigan? That is a factor too since you are essentially competing against those applicants from your school.
