Chance me please!

I am an indian student who used to live in Detroit until my sophomore year in high school. i left due to family problems resulting in a 2.1 sophomore GPA. although the schools here are much tougher. Since i moved i started over got great grades and am now the valedictorian at my new school. I scored a 1850 on the SAT and these are my extra curriculars:

Captain of the swim team at my new school
I teach English to underprivileged children on the weekends.
I run a charity in town to donate extra stuff to orphanages.
i run a free service to fix every ones's computers. (i did it for my school and all my teachers)
and i have great recommendations.
and i created an organization to involve the kids in my school in helping the community around school and for the betterment of the school.
I am the "student counselor" its like a student version of a school counclir where i help students with their problems since most people dont like going to school counselor ( its an official post. its like a volunteer service). the post has been so popular that other schools are starting to implement this idea of mine.

do you think i have a chance at the University of Michigan
or Purdue
or University of Illinois at urbana champaign
or The university of Texas at austin
or Texas A&M?

should i even bother to apply to these schools? because i know their really hard even for regular students to get in.
i tried to convert my grades into a 4.0 scale and i got about a 2.5. but i dont think it works that way.

oh and if someone knows how i would apply considering that i only have an official GPA until the 10th grade. that would be great!

ps: id be applying as an international student

Firstly, since you would have spent a major part of your high school career in India, these grades definitely count more. What board did you study until tenth, and what board are you doing now - its impossible to judge your acads without knowing this.

Don’t bother with the GPA system - its designed for american schools and doesn’t convert internationally. You should check the ‘don’t have a GPA’ box in your app.

Your Extra CCs sound good. What year will you be entering now (junior/senior?)

As for SAT, if you are happy with your score, thats fine - if you feel you have the potential to do better, go ahead and take it again. The kind of colleges you are looking at have kids more in the 2100+ range. Then again, that’s not all there is to getting into college, but it is important.

And nothing should make you feel like you’re not good enough to apply - let the college admission officers do the deciding. Just focus on sending in the best app you possible can.
