Chance me please.

Hi guys. I was wondering what my chances were for getting into UCSB.

UC gpa: 3.67

ACT: 32

SAT II: Math 2: 790

US History: 780

ECs:

100 hours community service

Volunteered as a tutor in an official tutoring program in library

Worked as an intern/manager at a car dealership for over 100 hours

4 years as an officer of a club, 1 year being the VP of said club

Horseback riding

Play guitar

DECA club senior year

Tutoring program in hs for 50 hours

I know my gpa isn't the greatest, but do you guys think that my test scores and ec makeup for it? Thanks for your input!

Hey UCman1. I would say you are a match for UCSB, though definitely not a shoe-in. Your test scores are certainly above average, but your GPA is significantly lower than the 4.1 median for SB. I would assume that your test scores would help to counterbalance the negative impact your GPA may have.

Hmm how about my ECs. Do they also make up for my gpa?

I probably wouldn’t put it under safety school but you have really good chances. I think those test scores will help balance out your GPA. Also, have good essays!

UC’s don’t really look at your ECs. It’s mostly your test scores and GPA.

your SATs are high but your GPA is too low. UCs focus primarily on GPA, evidence is the low SAT averages for all UCs

I know that ill be able to write a really strong essay. Any other opinions? I’m really worries my gpa is gonna break me.
