I am applying RD. I have a 97.5/100 GPA and 2030 on SATs. I am the captain of the crew team and have been on the varsity team for the past 5 seasons. I am the VP of the outdoors club at my school. I have had a lot of work experience and volunteered a lot.

I’d say your chances are good.

outdoors12, your stats and interests seem well aligned with Whitman. There isn’t a crew team, so I hope that won’t dampen your enthusiasm. The outdoor program is amazing, and there is a very high level of club and IM sports participation, so staying active isn’t a problem.

Where do you live?

I am from NY. I do not plan on rowing in college.

I imagine that coming from the east coast would give you an extra boost as Whitman tries its best to get geographic, as well as ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic diversity. Walla Walla is on the eastern side of the Cascades so there is a lot less rain than in Portland and Seattle. The winter is cold and it does snow, but the weather isn’t as harsh as you’re used to. They haven’t had any hurricanes lately.
