Chance Me, Please

Hi! I applied Early Decision II to the George Washington University Elliot School for fall 2012. I should find out any day now whether or not I get in, but obviously I'm still a little nervous. Would definitely appreciate any feedback or opinions!

GPA:
W- 4.5, UW- 3.45

SAT's:
780- Writing
640- Reading
660- Mathematics

SAT II's:
640- American History
620- Literature

AP Exams:
5- Language and Composition
4- American History

Last year I took AP US History and Language and Composition. This year I am in AP French, AP American Government, and AP Literature and Composition. My science classes have been at the honors level for all but physics, in which I took an academic level class. I have consistently been in honors math classes, but have not yet taken Pre-Calculus or Calculus. I hope to major in international relations and I have taken French for five years, as well as many other classes on current issues, public speaking, and international relations.

My essays are strong (I hope!) but I have no familial connections to GWU.

I am in French Club, Chinese Club, South Asian Cultural Club, Interact Club, and Diversity Club. I played lacrosse in my freshman year, and I have had a job at Target for the past year and a half. I have volunteered every week at my church on the tech and childcare teams, as well as the student leadership board, since 6th grade. I help at a local after-school program in the city about once every two months, and worked at a day camp last summer there. I have also volunteered hours at many local soup kitchens, community events, and the list kind of goes on.

I have been on three service trips, once to Russia to build a playground and keep up the grounds at an orphanage in Smolensk. This was in 2008. Two years ago, I visited Panama, where we worked at local churches, and where I also spoke, danced, and performed in skits for crowds of 800+ at schools in the area. This past summer, I had the opportunity to visit the Dominican Republic, where we again led skits and talks and music at churches. I have a very basic understanding of Spanish and Russian, and can easily hold a conversation in French. Also, I am a white female from Pennsylvania.

Thanks!

you have a great chance.

Oh wow! Thank you so much!
