Georgetown is a reach for me, I know. If anyone can give my some insight or advice on admissions, I'd be so thankful. I'm currently a junior, and GPA is a 3.75 UW and 4.33 W. I'm ranked 27/620 in my class and I'll have taken 9 AP classes and 3 honor ones by then end of senior year. The major problem I feel is that I have two C's on my transcript, and that was from sophomore year in an honors math class. But I've gotten straight A's junior year so there's an upward trend! My SAT score is 2130, 690CR 720M and 720W and my ACT score is 32. I'm not as involved as I'd like to be at school, I'm just in CSF (California Scholarship Federation), junior class committee, and math club. I'm more involved outside of school; I tutor young girls at an orphanage and I volunteer at a hospital, weekly. I've also played 3 years of HS volleyball and 2 of club. I've been attending Johns Hopkins CTY summer programs every summer as well. Please chance me if you can!

lol i hope you get in when you apply because i am in a very similar situation. 3.67 UW gpa, 3 Cs in junior year (ouch). What I did to improve my app over the summer and this year was study my butt off for the SAT (went up to a 2300) and got a bunch of community service hours to show i’m not a lazy dumb kid. I also had really strong leadership and involvement in several clubs that would focus on my major (SFS).

For you, try and do what you can with the time you have left. A good essay will go a very long way in explaining who you are and why you deserve to get in. Strong SATs (try the october test after a summer of studying) would show them that you have the intellectual capabilities or aptitude for a top college. Make lasting relationships with adults around you: rec letters are great, but not as good as having a friend and mentor. I think if you work on those things, and are in the top 5% of your class, you should be ok. Although I’m probably projecting my own fears and doubts about my app because of the similarities.
In any event, when I find out this week how it goes, I’ll be sure to let you know

Im glad someone’s in the same boat as me. And that’s great for you, I’ll definitely try to do the same and raise my SAT score. Thank you for your advice. Please do, hopefully we both end up in the best case scenario. Good luck with acceptances!
