You have an okay chance. Not bad, not good. I’ll tell someone they have a good chance if they’re average- 1960 SAT and 4.2 UF GPA. Those are average. Those stats are “They have no reason to turn you away.”

You’re lacking in academics in comparison to the average student. Still though, I would say okay chance. Depends how much effort you put into the other portions of your application.

I think you have a good enough shot. As BornToBeaGator said though, your SAT’s are a little below average. I think it may come down to your essay a little. Good luck!

DEFENITELY retake the SAT. The December test scores should just make it in time for the December 31st cut-off date.
I don’t think a 28 on your ACT will make it. Also I beleive your weighed UF GPA is off.

I had the same act and 10 pt higher sat and they said a big fat “no”. I had aps and a bunch of aice classes. Ended up entering fsu with 33 credits as a freshman. I even appealed with an excellent reason and got another big fat “no”.

But I will tell you, I come from an A+ highschool also and people who had lower grades and lower test scores did get in. It’s a crap shoot, dont get your heart set on it like I did.

You’re application as a whole has to put together an image of who you are and if UF is looking for you. This is the idea of holistics admissions essentially. What BornToBeaGator said is false. Because they are basing so much off numbers, and that’s not how the admissions work.

I personally think you have a good chance; you’re main weakness is rank IMO, however your job experience is a big plus.

You’re essay has to be absolutely amazing however. That essay is one of THE most important parts of the applications. It’s not just a simple supplement or something.

Thanks for all the feedback! I’m taking the SAT again this weekend and think I’m going to score around a 1940. My ACT is average for UF and my GPA is above average, but I realize my EC’s could be better. My essay was about my internship at the engineering company, it was pretty good. I think my chances for summer B are solid at the very least.

^^^
Good Luck this weekend on your SAT test. I also believe that if you take the December SAT test, your scores “”“MAY”"" make it on time if you feel that you didn’t improve your score this Saturday.

Responding to Sabertooth: Academics aren’t everything, but it’s easiest to judge on academics because there are comparable values in place. It’s hard to say if UF looks more highly at Quarterback of the Football Team or Captain of the Chess Club. Both show dedication. But if the Quarterback had a 4.3 and 1990, they’d look at him higher than a 4.1 and 1840. Academics are simply easier to measure.

@TC: If you don’t get in now I’d be flabbergasted.

Also: How does one go about going from an 1880 to a 2030? Tips?

Well my first time I got 540 CR 620 M 720 W. Then I studied SAT sparknotes, took a practice test, skimmed a practice book, and did some questions. Now I have 610 CR 660 M 760 W.

Matt-\Congrats on increasing your SAT to a 2030 and if your real weighed UFL
GPA is actually a 4.3, then welcome aboard !
Verify that your NEW sat scores make it on time for the December cut off date which is around Christmas.

I appreciate the feedback and am excited to hear how good my chances are now. I really hope the 2030 sealed the deal and now I just have to wait.
