Chance me please??

I am currently a sophomore (white male) at a nationally ranked top 200 high school in Minnesota. I'm looking to going into computer science; I really like Berkeley and Cornell, but I am still searching and completely open to suggestions, and I still have some time left in my high school career. I am looking for some guidance from you lovely people (possible fits, EC's I should look into, what I should strive for on my admissions tests esp. PSAT, summer opportunities, things like that) Thanks! :)

Thanks guys!

Get into more unique, Computer Science related activities. This will help you stand out from the other students applying to Berkeley for Comp Sci.

somenights, that’s what others have been saying. I joined the robotics team, but I guess that’s not all too unique, huh?

Look into some community service you could do or get a job where knowledge of computer science is required.

Aim for 2200+/33+ if you want a realistic shot at NWU, Stanford, Cornell, U Chicago (in that case, pay attention to your essays) or UIUC…

Is UMinn so weak in computer science that you wouldn’t consider attending it for CS? Try UMass Amherst if you can stomach New England.

Catria , thanks for the advice. Minnesota is ranked somewhere in the 30’s for computer science; I’ll still look into it, but I was sort of looking to get out of MN. I haven’t looked into UMass yet. I really like New England, but I haven’t toured any schools out there yet. Thanks again!
