I'm an incoming senior and I just got back from a visit to DC to look at schools and I absolutely LOVED gw. I think its my #1 so far but I haven't visited any others outside of DC.
My gpa is low (3.86 W) Dont know UW
I have taken honors classes since freshman year, my school only allows AP classes junior year and above, and since its a small school we dont have a lot of options, so I've taken honors biology, Spanish 3 honors, and precalculus honors and next year will be taking AP Government, Honors Econ, AP calculus(highest possible math) and physics which is extremely difficult but not weighted (but my counselor said that would be in her LOR)
Since it is a religious school we have to take a religious class each year and an art is required so they're isnt that much flexibility in my schedule
SAT: 2040
ACT: 31
but I didn't study for them so will hopefully retake one of them in the fall to get it higher.
ECs:
Varsity cross country and track all four years and will be captain of both this year (only seniors are captain)
Academic league since sophomore year
volunteer at freshman orientation
peer tutor
I've had 2 internships, the first at a non-profit that helps low income kids after school, and i also helped with a camp done every year at a college for low income kids put on by the non-profit
The one im doing now is at a political consulting company which is working on a congressional campaign and a lot of local city council campaigns.
I've had tons of service hours that include
-every year going with my family and other people and building houses in Mexico
-Lots of other stuff in Mexico, mainly clothing drives and fundraisers and then bringing them down to Mexico
-working with rescue dogs from mexico and helping them get adopted
-50+ hours serving food to homeless
-counselor at a camp for disabled kids, will be assigned a girl with down-syndrome and i will have to be her "buddy" for the weekend
And others that I''m probably forgetting

Anyway this is my dream school but I'm really scared that I won't go in, especially because all of the other people asking to be chanced seem so much more accomplished then me!

I would love to major in either polysci or international affairs, but is one harder to get into then the other?

Last thing: should I apply ED or RD? does it make a difference?

Thanks so much!!!!
