Hey all! Like all of us on this lovely forum, I am DESPERATE to know my chances to get into my dream school.
I am applying to UC Berkeley, UCSD, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Davis, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, and USC.

GPA Weighted: 4.28
(I took extra unweighted classes, which overall has decreased my GPA. Without the 6 extra classes, it would be a 4.43. Does anyone have insight if extra credits enhance applications?)

GPA Unweighted: 3.93

ACT Composite: 31-- Math: 32-- English: 32-- Reading: 30-- Science: 31-- Writing: 11/12 (Making my Writing composite a 32, also)

My prospective major is Molecular Biology (with an emphasis in genetics) and a minor in oncology (when applicable to a specific school's academic curriculum).
If it is needed, I am a California resident.

Extracurricular Activities:
Field Assistant for marching band (1 year)
Section Leader (3 years)
House-builder in Mexico, Amor Ministries (4 years)
Band Council Vice President (1 year)
Sophomore Success Program, Co-Founder and Head Tutor (2 years)
T-town Middle School Tutors, Co-Founder and Head Tutor (1 year)
GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) Officer, Ally (1 year) and Secretary (1 year)
BeWise Oncofertility Science Academy, student (1 year)
UCSD returning Lab assistant and Intern, Oncofertility Science Academy (WORK) (1 year)

Thank you for taking the time to look at this! Good luck to you and your applications! <3

I’m not really familiar with all the UCs, but you have a great GPA and solid E.C’s. Make sure you knock (or have knocked) out those essays. I’m assuming California residency might help, but again, I’m not extremely familiar with the UCs and such.

UC Berkeley: Low reach/High Match
UCSD: Safety?
UCLA: Low reach/High Match
UC Irvine: no idea
UC Davis: Safety?
Stanford: Reach for anybody
Johns Hopkins: Reach/Low Reach
USC: Low reach/High Match

I wasn’t sure on UCSD, UCD, and UCI. I mean it seems you have a better application than the people I know who have gotten into those schools. Probably all matches/low matches.

UC Berkeley: low reach/high match
UCSD: safety
UCLA: low reach/high match
UC Davis: match
Stanford: high reach for everybody, but decent shot
Johns Hopkins: medium reach

you have a really good gpa, your test scores are competitive for those colleges, and your ec’s are really good

Yeah, there’s a subforum. Go to Discussion Home on the left side, then College Essays.

It might take a while to get some notice, but after some bumps, someone might come around. Be sure to not post your actual essay in a thread - PM people who offer to help and make sure they are actually there to help and not steal or anything (be aware of posters with a low number of posts).

UC Berkeley- low reach
