Yes, I know I have a low GPA. But I have consistently improved, and I have a high academic rigor. I also write my essays well, and have obtained excellent teacher recommendations. I have also been consistently involved outside the classroom. I mentioned in my essay that from each mistake I made, I grew as a person and learned something new. Could you please chance me for my schools and give me a little insight? Thank you so very much in advance I know this is a little long.

The Ivy leagues on your list are certainly stretches as well as Duke, U Chicago, Tufts and Northwestern, but you stand a chance at all the others.

@leavingNYC does that mean I have no chance at all in those schools?

I agree with @leavingNYC a 4.08 GPA is quite low for some of those schools. Good luck though

No, you certainly have a shot, I was just saying that of the list they may be the most difficult for you to get into.
Chance me back plz :D

Hi Show me State 700,
actually, I read the wrong GPA.
If you apply engineering, then it would be what I wrote (UCLA more at high match).
If you apply to arts and sciences, then nvm, they are matches, and you likely will get in if assuming essays good etc.

As I understand, the UC GPA matters HEAVILY (your test scores are great, duh), and your major heavily influences your acceptance rate.

The Ivy leagues on your list are certainly stretches as well as Duke, U Chicago, and northwestern simply because despite your diversity, you need tangible things that demonstrate your competency outside of class. You certainly have that for music considering you certificates, but things like Excellence for NFL rankings are ridiculously easy to achieve.

@veritas126 what about the reasearch and science and math section?

@veritas126 I’d be grateful for a more detailed evaluation please

good transcript. However unless you have lots of money and a legacy you cant predict which ivy leagues will accept you

I agree with everything that was said on here. All the Ivies + Duke, Tufts, Northwestern and University of Chicago are high reaches. However, everything else is a safety, match or high match/low reach.

Bumppppppppp

Also my school is tough ranked 4th in the state

Tutoring isn’t necessarily a demonstration of ability. Attending camps and summer seminars are good, especially if its RSI but I’m not entirely familiar with the program you went to. I prefer demonstrations of skill rather than classes/camps because things like awards and research projects are clear demonstration of a student’s skill and ingenuity.
Have you submitted any research abstracts or projects?
