Hey everyone,
Recently I applied to college and I was hoping that people could chance me for some schools, specifically UVA, William and Mary, Georgetown, Boston College, Tufts and Notre Dame.
About me:
I go to a top private prep/boarding school in Maryland. I have taken a total eight ap classes and numerous honors courses in my time at school. My school does not rank and i have an unweighted gpa of 3.7 and an average of 90/100, (my school doesnt way our gpa)
SAT
CR: 730
M: 690
W: 740
AP Scores
Latin:4
World History:5
US History:4
AB Calc: 5
For extra credits i have a bunch of different clubs and organizations such as theater, school newspaper, school yearbook, political and cultural clubs. I have been on the honor role every year and i am an AP scholar. I have leadership positions as a captain on one of my teams, various roles in leadership programs at my school, and over the past summer i worked as a manager at a neighborhood swim club which i have worked at for the past three summers. I am a two sport varsity athlete and i have over 150 hours of community service and really stress this throughout my applications. My essays are very good and my recommendations are excellent.
I am a white, catholic male for all that matters.
Thanks so much for the help!
Also i live in virginia so thats applicable for uva and w&m
Nice! Being instate in virginia gives you a whole bunch of options as virginia’s public school system is awesome. I currently attend William and Mary so feel free to send me any questions you may have or if you just wanna talk.
While I don’t really do chances, I can give a bunch of general pointers from my experiences in applying to schools. You seem to have a good unweighted GPA and test scores within the range of the schools you are applying to. Most of the colleges will also look at course rigor (as evaluated by your GC) compared to the rest of your class and your senior year schedule. Taking all 3 core sciences, at least 3 years of language, and having at least 3 years of other humanities courses are recommended. You seem very involved in your school, but quality over quantity is also important. As my cousin recommended before college apps were sent off, the “story” of yourself you tell through your ECs is almost as important as the ECs themselves.
Good luck with college applications.
Your test scores are within range although your gpa may be a bit lower than they might like. However you can more than make up for this if your essays are superb as you mention as well as your recs. My best guess that should be taken with a grain of salt
UVA: High Match= Accepted
William and Mary: Low Reach= Accepted
Georgetown: Low Reach= Waitlisted
Boston College: High Match=Accepted
Tufts: na
Notre Dame: Low Reach= Accepted/Wait listed
Wish you the best!
