Hi! Sorry to do this, but I’ve seen so many helpful people in this thread and I was hoping someone could chance me for smith early decision? I love the school, but I want to know if I should be working on backup schools or not yet.
GPA: 88.03 weighted (my school doesn’t tell us our unweighted?)
Old Sat: 1450/1600, 2200/2400 (with writing). Got an 800 on critical reading
Schedule: I’ve taken three APs so far, as well as two college classes. Senior year I’ll be taking at least one AP, my fourth year of Spanish, and college class. However, I’ll be taking Logic instead of precalc because I am not good at math.
Activities: I cofounded GSA and ran it for two years, I cofounded Women’s Empowerment Club and ran it for a year (stepped down voluntarily from both of these). This year I’ll be copresident of poetry club. I’m also an editor of the Unofficial School Newspaper and my freshman year I helped make an “I Need feminism Because” facebook page. For the past three summers I’ve worked at a pool, and I think I’ll do that during the school year too. I go to Jewish lessons once a week.
A friend of mine and I also did a survey on vibes at our school, in terms of homophobia racism etc, but we haven’t yet done anything witht he results.
Thanks so much!! <3
Good chances. Write good essays and you might be set.
thank you so much!
Great SAT scores! Especially for the old SAT. Smith is test-optional but most students submit an SAT or ACT, and these can be used on the profile, and yours is over the 75% range.
Applying ED will help even more. But what is financial situation? Full-pay? Needs a good bit of aid?
For backups, I have seen (on CC and Parchment) that Mount Holyoke is a bit easier to get in and offers more aid. A lot of applicants to these also consider Bryn Mawr, though each school has a definite feel. For really strong empahasis on women’s empowerment it’s hard to surpass Smith.
