Hello.
After 50 college credits I am at a 3.925
My act in high school was a 28
Highschool gpa was a 2.7
I do big brother, im in several clubs, and im in a chancellors committee to help represent minorities, I am coming from a big 10 school.
What are my chances for ivy league schools, northwestern, Vanderbilt, uMich, or NYU?
I am black and a microbiology major from Illinois.
Please help.
Your credentials are excellent, and I would say you have a solid chance at making it into at least two of the last four schools go. I would steer towards NYU, they’re huge on diversity and will especially love the outside work you’re doing.
I looked into transferring to Ivy’s myself. My stats are a little lower but same boat; poor high school performance, excellent college performance. Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Columbia take a microscopic number of transfers each year, we’re talking between 5-25 depending on which school.
Cornell and UPENN take considerably more, but still a pretty small number of transfers. From what I could gather they do put some weight into your High School performance and ACT scores. For many selective schools if you’ve taken more than 30 credits they don’t even ask for your ACT/SAT scores or High School transcripts. I know off the top of my head NYU wants transcripts but not ACT scores.
I would apply to UPENN and Cornell as high reaches, and the rest as target schools.
