Awards and stuff: Honor Roll
High Honor Roll
Student of the Month
Faculty VIP
Who's Who Among American High School Students nominee

Unless the Student of the Month is sponsored by an outside organization. For example, I was Student of the Month, picked my the city's Rotary organization, had to go to an awards luncheon, got a certificate, a little speech made about me, etc. Actually, I don't see why you wouldn't put Student of the Month on the list of your awards. You were, after all, picked from the entire student body.

Well, it's like an employee of the month. Why are they nominated? Just to make all employees work harder; usually the award goes without a prize (like a one-time bonus or a raise in salary), they just put a picture of you on the wall and if you are really lucky you may be invited to dinner. If it was an awards that's based solely on merit, the same few employees or students would have to be picked as employee or student of the month again and again and again. But that would demotivate all other students and employees and would thus constrain the actual purpose of the award.
So imo, those awards are pretty worthless.
