chance me please

okay i'm a white male living in illinois
GPA- 2.6 (due to a very stressful, crazy and terrible junior year where i got a .3 GPA)
I can explain this very convincingly in essays or teacher recs or something
ACT- 28
AP's- AP Euro(4), taking AP Bio and AP Psych and will most likely get 4's
EC's- Varsity football(11, 12) Varsity basketball(12) Varsity lax (10,11,12) Varsity track(9)
I will probably be all conference in football and lacrosse this year if that means anything.
worked as a phone clerk for half a year my sophomore year but had to quit because lacrosse.

I'm looking to major in finance/accounting, but will apply to LAS and start out with economics because my low GPA. Help is appreciated

**Wow, .3??? Like...0.3? I'm more amazed at a .3 than a 0.00.

But...what's your first semester senior year GPA gonna look
like?

Gawhh, I'd call it a stretch unless you can get like a 31+ on the
ACT.

Just my .02**

Probably unlikely.

I'm currently getting a 4.0 which is hard to believe. Yea i had a lot of ***t going on last year. I'm your classic underachiever, which I'm regretting now.

doubtful....considering IU doesn't look at recs or essays
.3 on your most important year is pretty bad..

try a CC and then transferring
good luck.

According to the latest USNews America's Best Colleges, Indiana University accepted 70% of all applicants two years ago. Your ACT composite score is fine & your AP European History score of 4 is strong. Your GPA is borderline. But you already know all of this. Your biggest hurdle is how you explain your junior year GPA of a 0.3. Write the explanation and have two different teachers read & critique it. Be careful not to suggest issues that might raise additional concerns such as safety for yourself or others--this is just a random example not related to anything in your case. My point is that sometimes an explanation can make matters appear to be worse than they are. A brief explanation may be your best option so as to not cause undue focus on a difficult year which you have overcome & is in the past. Focus on your many strengths. Everyone faces difficulties at various times throughout their lives; the focus should be a short & simple clarification showing that you have successfully overcome a difficult time in your life which enabled/required you to grow & mature in a positive direction that caused you to focus on more important and positive aspects of your life. And it looks like you have accomplishments that prove this.

Before you go to such lengths, call the Admissions office, explain your situation, perhaps with not all the details, and ask if your teacher recs etc can or will be read along with your application. IU is a by-the-numbers school when it comes to admissions - it's about the GPA/test scores/class rank.

Acceptance percentage for the most recent year is below 65%.

IU-B is really, really focused on accepting only those who ranked in the top 50% of their high school class. Fewer than 2% of those accepted to the school were ranked below this threshhold. Accordingly, it will be necessary to follow ColdWind and lakeeffect's suggestions to have any chance at admittance.

It does appear from what you wrote that your situation might fall into that 2% exception, though, so best of luck to you.

Here's the common data set that shows the statistics above, which can be found on page 4 and page 7:
