I'm looking to major in finance/accounting, but will apply to LAS and start out with economics because my low GPA. What are my chances for Purdue, Illinois-Urbana Champaign, Illinois-Chicago, Penn State, Iowa, Wisconsin-Madison, Indiana-Bloomington. Also what are some schools not in the Midwest that are good with finance and offer a CPA program and are affordable that i may have a chance at.
Help is appreciated

Unfortunately, your grades do not put you on the level of the schools that are on your list. The only school you might have a shot with is Illinois Chicago, but that's mainly because I do not know it that well. I am not worrying about finance. I am just listing some name schools that I think you might have a shot of getting into. Some other schools to consider: West Virginia, LSU, Louisville, USF, Temple, Texas Tech?. You could check those for finance. Best of luck.

"I can explain this very convincingly in essays or teacher recs or something"?

No you can't. I'm not saying that you won't get in. You could get in off of sports, and you should definitely write killer essays. If the situation involving the .3 was because of something that you don't want to discuss, that's a different issue.
