haha. im also applying ed, but my choices are the oppisite of yours. I have CAS as first and AEM as second...

Looking at your stats, I would say you have a pretty good shot. Your SAT maybe a bit weak, but your grades are AMAZING. I wish I can have your grades...

Although, if it was sent, I'm sure they will see it, and an 800 certainly doesn't hurt the application.

Through a Google search, I found the recruitment manual for the CAAAN interviewers for 07-08, and this is what they say on the subject:

"Cornell has engaged in an exercise and follow-up discussions regarding the
SAT writing component. Based upon the exercise and our discussions, we
have a better understanding of the usefulness and limitations of this portion
of the exam. We will continue this discussion as we continue to accrue more
data over the course of the next few years."

J 380410 my intended major for cas is economics and a minor a music. I know it is kind of late, but maybe try taking the acts if you get deferred or something. I got only a bit higher than you on the SAT, but I got a much higher ACT score without even studying!

also to others, about the SAT writing, I heard from a college admissions person (not cornell) that because everything for them is online, they don't even see the writing section since the computer program automatically deletes. But they can calculate it from the scores (2400 score and 1600 score).

Oh wow, that's kind of surprising laxgurl.
But oh well, my Writing score makes my 2400 score pretty high and my 1600 score is decent for Cornell I think (1500/1600).
So I guess their overlooking Writing won't be too detrimental for me personally.
