I understand why several people hate affirmative action, but if I can use it I think it is in my benefit(sorry if I sound greed, but I think anyone in my situation would use it). About my SAT going up. I went up 210 points to my current score, I have no don’t that with a little more practice and reading the WSJ I can improve my writing and Critical Reading scores as well as math. I am aiming for high schools because honestly I like my safeties, so if I reach for the moon -hopefully- I will land among the stars. My safeties are UM, UF, UCF. I live in Florida. Thanks for your input.

Are my chances low just because of my SAT I?

that’s most of the game… a lot of times they won’t even look at the rest of your application because they have to make a certain score cutoff, most of your schools will be rejections sorry.

I just want to make one more point. If you can get a close to perfect GPA or even a little above it (i.e 101, 102, 103,) then what makes you think you’ll survive in Columbia for instance.

Just because I not good at standardized testing, doesn’t mean I can’t handle a tough school with a tough curriculum. I have been enlightened. Thanks for all the help. I am going to go study for October and post my new and improved SAT I scores with another chance thread. Later to chance threads til October thanks anyways. I you still want to chance me thats great, I would still love more criticism. Also I would be glad to chance!!!(Just put your link)!

Thanks Andyboy23! You have given me the fuel to get a 2200 on the SAT I. I am consistently in the 700s now on practice tests. So thanks! Hopefully the real thing will be similar. Thanks again.

Highly doubt you miraculously got consistent 700s on each section of the SAT in such short time.

You won’t make it to the top schools even as a URM. Being an under-represented minority will certainly help you, but it won’t compensate for a very low SAT score, no academic honors, low/normal AP scores, and low/normal SAT IIs all at the same time. I’d say your ECs are pretty decent though if you have a couple musical awards that are nationally recognized. Sorry if I was too blunt.

IDK about your chances at those schools, but there is an awesome college in Florida. New College of Florida. I want to apply there, but I live too far away (NJ). Their academics are really strong because they have a great self study program and they have pretty good financial aid. You should apply there too, just saying.
