I’d say 75/25, as test scores/gpa are mediocre at best, but overall wholistically you have a very strong application. To say that you’re in would be an underestimate of USC as a university (as well as their 22% acceptance rate, along with all the crazy things that happen with admissions as often a much weaker candidate will be accepted while a strong one will be rejected, it’s like they’re working with dice), with a 28-33 ACT median range, and most in top 10% of their graduating class (your biggest downfall imo is not being in that range) makes it a very competitive university, however if I were to say accepted or rejected definitively, I’d say you’re fine, and definitely a good shot for acceptance, but I wouldn’t expect any big scholarships.

Your rigorous class schedule and ECs will shine through your weaknesses (which aren’t that big of weaknesses really), so I think you have a good shot. Also, test scores in your major’s area are a point of interest as well, like having a 36 math, regardless of a 31 ACT is amazing according to admissions if you’re going in for engineering, but a 25 might steer them away, and AP classes that relate to your area of interest, as well as their scores is big too.

Also, being from Kentucky is a much bigger advantage than you realize. Since 99% of Kentuckians grow up and marry their cousin and settle down workin’ the local corn field, it’s a rarity to get a Kentucky applicant, and they’re by law allowed to award geographic diversity, and that will probably help your acceptance as well (obviously the previous statement isn’t true, except the part about Kentucky applicants being a rarity, and I can make these generalizations because I currently live in Louisville, KY, and I think my residency has helped me get accepted, with scholarships, to other colleges that I otherwise may have been rejected from, UMich for example, especially after their affirmative action case.

All I can say is good luck, you’re a strong applicant.

Thank you all very much! Any good threads where I can keep posting about admissions or discuss with current students waiting on decisions? Thanks.
