<p>Ive been told I had pretty good chances, but i'm terrified of not getting accepted. My sat's are a bit low, but i have a 2year work experience in my major...
Took all honors at high school, All A's (89 in chemistry honors) and 3 AP courses (bio 4, government-4, english - 5), and now as a senior: full time enrolled at a local college (as dual enrollment student- credits count towards high school and b.s if schools accept them). I've taken the most challenging curriculum possible (started high school math in 8th grade) and instead of most electives, doubled up on sciences and maths. I have a 4.49 GPA weighted, 3.9 unweighted. Good letters of recommendation. my sat is total of 1960, and composite act is 28. I want to major in computer science, and have been working with a local company for 2 years as a web-designer, then a developer, moving into software (wrote manuals for a software) and did part time tech support for another company. Ive educated myself in pretty much all I know about programming (proficient in php, mysql, learning asp.net, security, databases, software/hardware configurations, and networking (routers, connections, etc).
I am a permanent us resident, know 4 languages (english, russian, german, french) + took 3 years of spanish in high school, just for kicks, because i knew it would be easy. (which it turned out to be).
As far as extracurricular activities, I am a certified fitness intructor in spinning, was part of the swing dancing club, and did fbla for one year. 80 hours of community service. not many extracurricular activities because i usually work or study most of the time.
I'm applying to MIT, Carnegie Mellon, and Georgia Tech (and 3 local state colleges, which I know I will most likely get into). But as far as the three colleges listed, what chances do I have? I'm hoping my work experience and gpa will outweigh my sat's and lack of extracurricular activities.
Thank you! :D</p>
