I already applied to Elon Early Action, and I am really nervous because Elon is my top choice and I REALLY want to get in! here are my stats:

Class rank: 79/209
GPA:3.0
SATS: 1810 combined
I get mostly A's and B's, but sophomore year I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, so I missed alot of school and my grades went down. This experience was my essay topic.
I go to a public high school
I will have completed 4 AP courses by the time I graduate

EC's:
4 Yr Varsity Swim Team
3 Yr Varsity Golf Team
Spirit Night Committee
Youth Group
4 Yr Ski Club
lots of volunteering in my community

Why have us guess now? I have opinions (as I’m sure others do) but truthfully why encourage or disapoint you now based on educated guesses… good luck, cross your fingers, and either way work on your other applications because thats the smart thing to do.

Your GPA is a little low. Is the 3.0 weighted or unweighted? Elon seems to give a lot of extra consideration to having taken Honors and AP courses. They give a whole extra point for honors and 2 extra for AP when they recalculate the GPA, so that could really make a difference.

@ncmentor, I just wanted your opinion on whether you thought I have a good chance of getting in, even if it is after I applied. I still have the same chance of getting in now as I did before I applied! @kierans, My 3.0 GPA is unweighted. I have a 4.7 weighted gpa.

“My 3.0 GPA is unweighted. I have a 4.7 weighted gpa”. -

You might want to check that again. (Or at least what form of weight are you using)???

That would “B” average for unweighed classes, and you would have to take just about every class all 4 years as AP’s to get that weighed average. (maybe 3.7 ?). Even the generous but convoluted NC system is +1 for honors / +2 for AP

^ rodney - Crazy hours right now between work and sick friends. Sometimes silly hours are the only ones I get… Thanks for asking…

^ 2011graduateCT - Yes a weighed 4.7 GPA does seem very high from a unweighed 3.0

Do you know what scale your school is using?

As I said above “That’s a “B” average for unweighed classes, and you would have to take just about every class all 4 years as AP’s to get that weighed average”.

“Also, do you think that visiting the campus will have helped my chances much? People say it does, but Im not so sure”.

Elon does care that you understand what makes them different and that you express interest in that difference. Visiting is only one way to show interest…

Huh. I double checked with my counselor and that is definitely what he said. Im not 100% sure what our scale is, but I believe that weighted is out of 4 and unweighted is out of 6.
