Chances please? I'm worried about my EC's.. :(

You have a great chance. Just relax, and leave it up to chance once you send in your application. I am going to be a freshman next year at Duke and I went through what you are going through. After I was accepted, I actually stressed over picking which college to go too, since I had gotten into so many top colleges as you will (I’m definitely glad I picked Duke though!)

I had a 3.9 and 2200 too and got in. I had just a little more extracurriculars, but I submitted a creative writing supplement and guitar supplement and I think those really helped. Try getting an extra recommendation from a professor if you have been taught by one–I really think they value the words of other people involved in academic life. I know my recommendation really helped me.

Good luck!

Thank you so much!!! It was a great help!
Why exactly did you choose Duke over so many top colleges?? just curious…

Hey.

Well Duke’s obviously a top college itself being 8th in the nation. But I got into Cornell, UNC, Georgetown, Washington University in St. Louis, Johns Hopkins, and Brown. For UNC I actually had a half-tuition scholarship and was in the honors program so it was tough.

It pretty much came down to how much I like the atmosphere at Duke. I’m planning on doing law school and felt that it would prepare me better than the other schools. For example, the acceptance rate to Harvard Law at the other schools was slightly above the normal (which is 13 percent) at around 16 percent for each one. At Duke, 25 percent of students who applied last year made Harvard Law.

Duke itself was the top ranked of them all, although that really doesn’t matter too much once you start deciding.

Go visit Duke! I’m sure you’ll probably fall in love with it. Its biology program is 2nd in the nation (another factor) and political science very high in the top 10 too.
