PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT SCHOOLS ARE SAFETY SCHOOLS, REACH SCHOOLS, ETC. Do I have a chance in any of these schools? Thanks!

Were you accepted ED at Virginia Tech?

@suzy100 I was deferred… don’t know why :frowning:

ricflairdrip is a lit song btw. Anyways good luck.

can someone plz give me an honest opinion… thanks.

UVA’s engineering school is very small and thus harder to get into than VT, so that is a high reach.

anyone else?? plz help

I think Georgia Tech is a high reach too. Virginia Tech is a reach if you are from Nova. Low reach if you are from another part of the state. I know someone who did not get into VT for engineering, but was accepted as a science major. Since you were deferred for ED, you might ask admissions about being considered for a different science program as well. You can also see what the options are for transferring into Engineering after freshman year.

Dude, I think it’d be helpful if we knew what the lower grades on your transcript were in. If they’re in math or science classes, you could get the shaft at a few of these. I can see UMD, Virginia Tech and Clemson happening. And even though you were deferred at Virginia Tech, I think they’ll probably end up taking you too. My guidance counselor said that people can get deferred if the school feels they need to compare the student to the applicants in the later round. She said they’ll do that if there’s anything that makes them feel there might be something equal or better in the regular round. They can also defer you if they feel they need the first semester grades to make a better decision. You can still get accepted there and I think you probably will, unless you hosed around and messed up in critical math and science classes.

Georgia Tech is a maybe.

UVA is a serious reach, but again, I don’t know how well your essays were written and what your science and math specific grades are.

Good luck, dude!

@Hippo21 I’m not from NOVA. Thanks for your input!

@LilShortay thanks a lot for your input.

No prob, dude!

@AdamD, yeah, song is lit af.

If you are nervous, maybe apply to JMU or VCU as a safety. They both have engineering.

I think match for most but reach for UVA. How did it go?

Chance me please

@Hippo21 I already applied to VCU engineering and heard back. I got in.

Congrats! I figured you’d get in!!! Sounds like they just wanted to check your 1st semester grades to make sure you were on track, and you obviously were. Happy for you.

@LilShortay I have only heard back from VCU. Which university are you talking about?

I’m talking about VCU since you’d mentioned you were deferred and I had explained why I thought they might have done that! Congrats!

@LilShortay Oh I wasn’t deferred from VCU. I was deferred from Virginia Tech for engineering. But thank you!
