Hello, everyone this is my first post, and for some reason I am extremely nervous(should I be?lol)
Uh, well, here goes:
I am a High School Senior in New York.
My GPA on my Junior year transcript was a 72.
I really wanted to at least increase my average this year but so far it doesn't look like that's gonna happen. Thing is, I have had 80 averages(I consider myself highly intelligent ;-) ) but I'm just inexcusably lazy.
On my SAT last year, I got a 1740 and I know I can get higher this January, on the 24th.
The only EC I have is ROTC and I don't know if that's considered EC. I have volunteered at my school's library and done Summer Youth but that's it. I'm very good at writing essays so that shouldn't be a problem, but other than that I really need help. I would like to attend Hofstra, PACE ,possibly Baruch SUNY Buffalo or Stony Brook(really any SUNY) and I really only want to attend a Community College as a last resort(If any one knows any above average ones please let me know) but I don't mind transferring from somewhere. PLLLLEEAASSSEE chance me!!!!!lol
Also I only have 1 AP class--Global and dodnt take the test but I received a 75 in the class....my transcript isnt sparse but hard to list individual courses/classes which is why I didn't do a list like other posters...

Where are you applying?
quote ) but I'm just inexcusably lazy.
[/quote]
I hate hearing that. It's a really lame excuse for underachieving. Colleges will not see "oh look, he's smart, all he needs is motivation!". They'll see a bunch of C's on a transcript.

I know that, and do not plan on using that as an excuse(And we also don't use letter grades :-p ), I know I didn't include it but I do acknowledge I f'ed up and don't want anyone to take pity on me because it's no one's fault but mine, however I still want to know my chances for certain schools, hence my posting in the What are My Chances? section.

If you're averaging a 72, that means your GPA is less than a 2.0. Furthermore, your SAT score isn't very competitive. You might say you are lazy, but your low SAT score won't convince universities or colleges that you are actually very intelligent but just lazy.

In terms of GPA, here is a list of the percentages of students accepted at the aforementioned schools with a GPA less than 2.0:

Hofstra: 0%
Pace: Not reported
Baruch: 1%
SUNY Buffalo: 1%
SUNY Stony: 0%

Apply to all of them. You probably won't get into all of them, but you will probably get into one.

Thanx my GPA is actually higher(surprisingly) but I have to ask...being that I have 4 weighted classes what effect does that have on my GPA? And, also I understand what you mean about my SAT score not compensating for my low grades, when I retake my SAT's I'm pretty sure I'll get way higher, I didn't know what to expect going in to the test but now I'm a little bit more prepared.

hofstra, pace, and Baruch are possible. (I know people who got in with lower SATs). My advice is apply to CUNYs to be safe.
I think the SUNYs are reaches though, especially Buffalo. They're getting very competitive.

I know, and I know I should be one of the last to be picky but I just don't want to HAVE to settle (for CUNY), but I don't mind going there, just want to keep my options open, and also I want to add Arizona State...how's a New York City boy like me gonna adapt to Arizona?...Only one way to find out.....lol

What do your first semester senior grades look like? Do you have any reason for why earlier grades are not good?
