Chance me plzzzzzzzzzzz

Hey everyone, I'm a rising senior in high school. Could you chance me for UC Berkeley, Cornell or recommend matches?
Here are my stats:
Class Rank: 5 of a class of approximately 600
SAT 2260 CR: 700 Math: 760 Writing: 800
ACT 36
SAT II: Bio M: 780 Chem: 780 USH: 770 WH: 780

Ethnicity: Asian (Indian)

I've taken all of the available honors and AP courses I've been able to fit into my schedule and 1 extra not typically offered to sophomores. Senior year, my schedule will be entirely filled up with AP courses and joint enrollment distance calculus class with Georgia Tech.
So far my AP scores are 5's in WH and AP Computer Science.
My scores for this year will arrive in about a month but based on the numerous practice exams I took I'm projecting 5's in Calc BC, Language and Composition, Biology, Chemistry, and US History.

ECs, awards, etc:
Captain of Fencing Team (3 years)
Placed 6th in the High School League Junior Year and will be seeded 3rd next year
I plan on participating in the Junior Olympics and Nationals for fencing within the coming year.
President of Young Democrats
Secretary of Nation English Honors Society (P0art of the founding group for our high school's chapter of the club)
Member of Academic Bowl, Math Team, National Honors Society, and Beta Club for 4 years, 4 years, 2 years, and 3 years respectively
100+ hours volunteering at a nearby Neurodevelopmental Center specializing in helping disabled children
Lead Organizer in a Marathon Gaming group for charity (involved helping design website, promote and actual participation in the marathon). Over the course of the first 88 hour long marathon, we raised $1300+.
National Spanish Exam - won Gold Award sophomore year.

Do not send SAT I score since you got 36 on ACT.
(You HAVE TO send SAT I score to some schools such as Cornell, Yale, Stanford, Rice, Georgetown and Columbia. These schools do not allow score choice.)

SAT II scores are good.
Rank is good.

What is your UWGPA?

“I plan on participating in the Junior Olympics and Nationals for fencing within the coming year.”
Are you being recruited?

UWGPA 3.98 and weighted 4.5.

I was recruited as part of a local fencing club’s team and I’m hoping to qualify individually.

You do not have math II subject test score ???

I haven’t taken it yet. I was planning on taking it early fall this year.

Yes, you should take math II. It is not too difficult to get 800.

What is your intended major?

I’m undecided for major. Considering going into the sciences with all variations of biology and chemistry or going into the economic side of social sciences.

Also I have a quick question about weighted GPA’s. Do A’s in honors classes count as 5’s or 4.5’s? I used the latter to calculate my weighted GPA, but if the former is correct then my actual weighted GPA is 4.8.

I think you have good chances at Cornell and real good chances at UCB.

Apply to many selective colleges including Ivies, Stanford, MIT and Chicago and so on.
(I applied to about 20 schools. I am Asian male also so I wanted to increase my chances by applying to many colleges.)
I think you will have good chances at NW, Rice, Vanderbilt, Wash U (if not applying for FA) and Emory.
Duke and Chicago will be reach schools but you will have decent chances.
Include some LACs such as Swarthmore (reach), Carleton and Middlebury and so on.

At this level, you will have either reaches or safeties. Good luck to you.

Ok thanks a lot =D!

UCB is a great match, especially if you’re in state. Cornell is a match too in my opinion because you’ve shown you can be smart and involved. I’d say you look into USC, Rice, Georgia Tech, Columbia, among others, if you wish to go to a school that has both great humanities majors and science majors. That way if anything happens you can make the transition while not sacrificing the school’s strength.

Thanks for the chance and good luck!

Not much to say, but I think you won’t have too much trouble getting in. I’m Not sure what type of schools/careers you might be interested in, but perhaps some places like UChicago, MIT, or Duke might interest you. I’m not overly familiar with them myself, but maybe they’ll pique your interests.

If you could return the favor, I’d appreciate it.

First off, thanks for the chance. Gave me great confidence.

UCB should be considered a safety for you, and Cornell is on the horizon with a fantastic essay. I would also suggest apping to Rice, Duke, UChi, Penn, and USC, those types.

To guarantee those, I would say

 1. Retake SAT for CR. You can do better than 700 considering your English ec’s. Break the 2300 barrier and get amazing opportunities.
 2. in your essays and on your app, push the Neurology and Fencing to a point where it’s your passion. You can really get those admission officers psyched by showing how important they are to you.

Good luck! Indian pride! :P

Actually you have a 36. That’s perfect. Good essays and I see you at all these schools.
