Please chance me, i know my scores suck, but would my ec's compensate for the crappy scores?

writing down SAT prep is not beneficial at all. Going to China.. same thing. I think your a slight reach due to your gpa, SAT, and OOS. SAT not so much though, because of your ACT. Write good essays, apply early, and I'm sure you'll be fine

I disagree.
I say you are a match

Match sounds about right. Being Iranian or Muslim does not help or hurt your chances by the way.

Looking at the stats of the Out of state Defered this year (of course not in yet or out, but most HAVE moved on) MANY MANY MANY if not MOST have higher Stats than you (not a ton higher though) If you were in state I'd say it looks good. Now I don't know your Michigan (sophmore/junior/acadmic only) GPA if it's even a little lower than that 3.7????
Hopefully by next year they would have worked out the bugaboos from their gowing-pain ridden Early Action admissions. Seems to me all but the easy admits (SAT over 2200 UW Mich GPA over 3.85) got a quick deferral. In my school, 4 out of 27 have been out and out accepted...the rest deferred. No big deal as some of the deferred got in early decision to schools like Cornell, Standford, Wash U. Many other really bright kids have since gotten accepted to IVY league schools and FAB LAC's RD while still waiting for Michigan...All I know have moved on.

I actually think it is a positive thing to note an experience like going to China-- especially since you said it was partially educational.
I'm an instate-applicant, so I guess I had an easier time getting in here, but I think that you SHOULD have a very good chance- good luck!
