Too laundry list-y? If so, what should I take out?

Your stats look pretty good, although for top schools (from what I’ve gathered) like to see variety & lots of involvement in a certain activity, like sports or volunteering. If you could narrow the list down, by not writing down trivial or unimportant things, it may put more emphasis on your strong points.

Harvard, MIT & a few more of the hardest schools you will get into are definitely reaches (but then again they are reaches for everyone)… maybe improve your SAT score? I have to wonder wether you have sincere interest in attending these schools, or if you are just interested in them because of their name.

Chance back–>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/969336-chance-unc-wilmington-odu-2.html#post1065333540</a></p>

I definitely have a sincere interest in the first group. The latter two groups are meh. I don’t plan on retaking any tests.

Which items do you guys think I should take off to have the strongest application possible in my situation?

Oooo, what a nicely organized post! Anyhoo…

comments: The internship is great. Your community service seems sort of stuck on giving money to diseases in some fashion (besides tutoring, which is required by NHS anyways), which should be good because it’s pretty in-depth on that but you don’t seem to have any other hints on your want to cure diseases. Your ECs are pretty good too. Taking the FBLA from zero to hero looks amazing- shows you’re a true leader. Your awards are all fantastic. SAT I isn’t super-duper high, and your SAT IIs could use some work. The ranking is really good (the Ivys just wet themselves over valedictorians/salutatorians), as is your GPA.

advice: About the volunteering issue, try some services that make a change now and today, things that’s more about helping the victim first-hand, like volunteering at a hospital or a soup kitchen. Take over some SAT IIs or try some in a different subject, like Chinese (which you are obviously good at, but then again you are Asian so it won’t be super impressive if you get in the high 700s, esp. if you speak it at home).

chances:
Yale: it’s always iffy whether or not to say you’re in at Yale and Harvard, but I say you have a fairly good chance
UC Berkeley: accepted (won’t say it’s definite, but you’re likely in)
UCLA: definitely accepted
I honestly don’t know much about Emory or Duke, so I won’t rate you there.)
Princeton: pretty good chance
Brown: most likely in
Penn: most likely

if you’d be so kind:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/969844-chance-me-ivys-hs-class-2012-a.html</a></p>

bump, i chance back

Well, most of the schools you listed are difficult to get into for anyone, but with your stats I would say you have at least a chance anywhere.

Also, I love you too. <3

AWWWWW that was sooooo cuteeee haha <3

please feel free to be brutally honest, and please give me advice on how to maximize my app guise :)

hey thanks for chancing me, looks like we have similar stats/schools…

lets see…
HYPS/Columbia/MIT: high reach for anyone, but your app solid. Theres really too much serendipity for these schools to be “def in”. nail those essaysss and hope for luck!
Penn/Brown: probably a low reach, with solid essays you have a decent chance.
Duke/Emory/Chicago: targets, execute essays well and probably in…
UCB/UCLA: prob. in, cal resident ftw!

haha clearly everything above the UCs come down to your essays, recs, luck, etc.
if push comes to shove, ill prob see you at cal yeah?? :P

fsho. but dang that sounds weird! college…wow. haha

For any of you who told Uni to retake her tests, you are crazy. She has 750+ on every subsection on the SAT…that’s just a mistake or two on each section…it will not make a difference if she raises any of them. Your rank puts you above most candidates and your ECs are good. Good luck!

Yale – reach
UC Berkeley – safety
UCLA – safety
Emory – safety
Duke – match
Princeton – low reach
Brown – match
Penn – match
Columbia – match
Stanford – low reach (you live in California, giving you a slight boost there)
Harvard – reach
UChicago – match
MIT – reach
Cornell – match

idk. Your extracurriculers are extremely common with other asian Applicants.
I don’t see anything that distinguish yourself from them.

schools like brown will even be tough.

I wish I had your AP test scores :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Yale - reach(with a <9% acceptance its a reach for everyone)
UC Berkeley - low low low match/ backup
UCLA -…your a cal resident everyone here gets in
Emory -backup
Duke -ehh…? match? but the average SAT score for Duke at my school is like 2340
Princeton -reach
Brown - match/reach
Penn -match
Columbia -match
Stanford -Reach… its hard to get in for anyone
Harvard -lets not go there…
UChicago - match
MIT -reach
Cornell -match

any ED’s? Nice rank, its alot better then mine…
