Chance me RD Cornell, Dartmouth, USC, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Notre Dame, NYU

Hello, I’d like to start with saying I know that nobody can give me a straight answer, that top colleges are lottos, etc. I have applied RD to Cornell, Dartmouth, Stanford, USC, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, and NYU.

Safety (because I’m already in) - University of Michigan

Background:

  • Resident of Michigan
  • Male
  • White

Grades and Scores:

  • W GPA - 3.89
  • UW GPA - 3.78
  • SAT - 1440 (750 Math & 690 English)
  • ACT - 31 (35 English, 33 Math, 30 Reading, 25 Science)

*I have taken the hardest classes offered at my school, meaning that I took honors classes from Freshmen to Sophomore year

Junior Classes
AP Chem (3)
AP Lang (4)
AP Gov (4)
Spanish 4
Pre-Calculus
Physics

Senior Classes (W/ 1st semester grades)
AP Calculus (AB) - C+
Anatomy - B+
AP Lit - B+
AP Micro - A-
Visual Basic (C++ coding) - A-
AP Physics (C mechanics) - B-

**Not good, very busy this first semester

ECs:

  • NHS (2 years)
  • Key Club (4 years, board member)
  • Link Crew/student mentor (2 years)
  • Science Olympiad (3 years)
  • Varsity Soccer (3 years)
  • Club Soccer (all my life)
  • Took C++ coding classes at UMich for 2 summers
  • E-Commerce Entrepreneur
  • Stock Market investor ($2k)
  • Arts (photography & filmmaking)

Essays:

  • 4 letters of rec, should be good
  • Wrote about photography, a certain picture/moment that changed me as a person for my overall common app essay
  • Tried to be creative as possible and focused on each school during my supplements, had my father (went to MIT and Harvard, so should be a good writer) edit them and did a final check over, I spent a lot of time on each of them, I think they should be good

I know it’s a “crap-shoot”. I know my GPA and scores aren’t good. I know that odds are against me. But is there a chance? What about transferring after Freshmen year from UMich to one of these? I feel that these universities (especially Ivy League) would give me a head-start after college, and that they will push me in ways unimaginable in order to improve myself. So, what are my chances?

*Applied undecided to all, except for the ones that don’t allow it, which I put down Astronomy because I’m interested in space
*
My high school doesn’t weigh honors classes and APs are on 5.0 scale

Thanks I’m advance

Congratulations on your acceptance to Michigan! You are in a fortunate position to already have admission to a great school.

The rest of your list are definitely reaches but of course there is always a chance.

If you do end up at Michigan, I would suggest thoroughly enjoying your experience there and not worrying about transferring until you at least give it a chance.

You have posted the same question across multiple threads. Michigan is a world class university and you are set.

The Top 20 schools + USC are going to be reaches because of your GPA and test scores. NYU might be a possibility.

I’m sorry if you are annoyed, but I haven’t posted this question. I did early on in the semester when I was asking for chances at UMich, not any other school and without some ECs and grades. This is more detailed, with more schools, with more stats, with more etc.

If you’re applying to CAS at NYU you’re a match, stats are pretty much at the averages of the most recent admitted class, so final decision likely dependent on essays. (Stern would be a reach but you said undecided so assume CAS?)
Don’t know much about USC but the others look pretty reachy.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:

Actually you have posted this question - many many times. And across 11 different usernames no less. And I see that you created new accounts after I had warned you that this is a ToS violation. Closing thread.
