I have been in private schools until the 7th grade, until i moved and did home-school until Freshman year, then I went to boarding school, and this fall I am going to the top public school in my county.

I have yet to take the SAT or ACT (I plan on taking them this fall)

I have worked at a Tax office since my freshman year

I am considering

Dartmouth
Duke
Georgetown
U of Southern California
U Maryland College Park
Sarah Lawrence
UPenn
Northwestern
Vanderbilt.
(UGA is my just in case)

(Do you guys have any suggestions on what I should take this fall)

Keep up your grades and score well on the standardized exams and you have a good shot at all of these schools.

This fall you should take the most rigorous courses that are offered at your school (provided that you can handle them). Continue on your AP track.

I’m a junior, too. What have you scored on practice SAT/ACTs?

I’d say that Brown, Dartmouth, Duke, and UPenn are reaches. Georgetown and Vanderbilt seem to be slight reaches. You’ll probably get into USC and Sarah Lawrence. I don’t know anything about the Maryland school.

The fact that you moved around a lot and never really had a stable school foundation may hurt you a bit. To be honest, the ECs you have seem to be trite. Sorry if my evaluation seems rough, but it’s always better to be more conservative in guesstimates than too liberal.

^ no it’s ok I totally understand, I want pure honesty
I haven’t started junior year yet so I have yet to take the sat or act
I have taken the PSAT and scored in the top 5 @ my boarding school tho

That’s good! What was your score? Depending on your state, your score this year might help you get some sort of National Merit recognition, but I’m sure you already know that.

Your list is similiar to my list haha…i think you could get into most of those schools depending on your projected SAT score…on University of Maryland College Park its a really good school…one of the best state universities in the country

College admissions are completely unpredictable until we get an idea of where your scores are at. Until then, keep up your strong grades and you’ll be fine.

I took the psat in in tn and I live in ga
But my scores are in my filling cabinet and I am no where near it
Thanks Jspencer and monster
I should prob take the sat or act very soon
Also another question do colleges look at you more if you take a summer progam at their school?

(sorry if I have any typos I’m using an iPhone to reply)

Honestly - you cannot tell before your junior year.
You seem lacking in the math and science department - but seem to dominate in the humanities department. Exploit that! You will have an EXCELLENT chance at UPenn and the like if you:

A. Do well on the SAT / ACT [ a given ]
B. Focus on your humanities [great SAT II scores, some ECs]
C. Keep that GPA

Haha. I have to agree that junior year is going to be what makes/breaks you. However, your extra curriculars are already very unique, such as tax offices and Lacrosse, which, as I understand it, is a still a bit of a rarity in teams. If I may ask, have you taken any AP tests?
