Chance me? Rising Senior

Hello. I'm a rising senior thinking about colleges.
Clark University is one of my top choice, but would you mind chancing me?

My status as a student:

Unweighted GPA: 3.95 (my HS doesn't use +/- system, so don't know how to calculate weighted GPA..)

ACT: 29 (Reading: 25, Math: 34, Science: 33, English: 24)
SAT: 1720 (Math: 700, Reading: 490, Writing: 530)
I'm retaking both, hoping to raise score.

AP Classes I have taken:
AP Bio (AP Test: 4)
AP Chemistry (AP Test: didn't take)
AP Calculus AB (AP Test: 5)
AP Classes taking next year as a senior:

All A's in class except both semesters in Junior Honors English (got B+ (89.3% for both semesters!) )

I'm planning to take TOEFL in August or September to send off score to Clark and other colleges in mind.

Did/will do tutoring in Math, Biology, and French for all 4 years.

Any advice would be helpful too!!.
I've found out that Clark is test optional, but I plan to submit my new ACT and TOEFL.
Thanks in advance! :D

Bump!!
:x

You definitely have a lot of things going for you! You could improve your scores, but if you don’t, not sending any in won’t hurt you at all.

Also, you said you have over 150 hours of cc, tutoring, and a few sports, do you have any very dedicated ECs, or leadership positions in something that you are passionate about?

Other than that, I’d say you have a great chance at Clark!

@ClarkU2016 Thank you for your reply!
Sadly, I don’t have any dedicated EC… I used to play the piano for 8 years, but I had to quit it when I moved to where I live now (we couldn’t bring the piano in to the apartment). Since I didn’t really play it in high school, I’m assuming it wouldn’t be any help… (although I was REALLY passionate about it :’( )

In my sophomore year for 6 month, we had this service learning project going on as a group, and although we didn’t have any “positions”, I was almost like a leader, contacting our project liason, planning activities, setting up times, and actually doing ALL the work (because no one else did). Can that kind of stuff be called a “leadership” position?

Can I ask one more question? I heard that Clark has a 3-2 engineering program, and that we can get a B.A. at Clark and B.S. at Columbia in 5 years. Do you know anything about this program? If you do, do many Clarkies have a good chance of transferring or pursuing additional studies at Columbia?

Again, thank your for chancing me! I’ll be super happy if you could answer my additional questions too!

Bump bump :)>-

Buuuuuump!

I thought you said in another thread you aren’t interested in Clark any longer. A lot of smaller colleges without engineering degrees have 3-2 programs. A lot do with Columbia. Apparently very very few people actually do it. You have to get accepted to the 2 part after you have done your work, it is not guaranteed. And financial aid for transfers is very hard to get most places, so you may have a financing issue. Search for threads for @ucbalumnus who writes a lot on how he has researched that students do not often actually follow through with this path. I’m sure he discusses possible reasons why. The point being that if you want engineering go to engineering college.

Yes it is true that I’m not interested in Clark anymore, I changed my mind yesterday, after my last bump.
I did research about the pros and cons of 3-2 engineering more thoroughly after reading his advises on others, and I did find out about how many people actually finish plus the financial issue like you said, which is the reason why I didn’t consider Clark anymore.
Also, I got myself interested in majors other than engineering, so that’s also another reason.
But thank you for clarifying it again for me and about ucbalumnus!
